Top Swap Info and Faqs, Also lots of 3800 Info

Read the whole thing for the most part, but still have a couple of questions on top swapping my 02 GT.
First of all, I bought a whole motor out of a 97 gtp, but wanted the higher comp, so im top swapping.
1. I've read that the injector clips changed from 97 to 02. Can i just cut the clips off the 97 harness and solder them on my 02?
2. I'm looking at the top end gasket set on rock auto from fel pro, it appears to cover everything as far as gaskets go, is this correct? I plan on ARP headstuds and rocker bolts.
3. Do i need to switch the MAP sensor clip?
I think thats all the questions i have for now. Im sure ill come up with a few more though
Thanks!

1) Yes
2)not sure what set. link or picture please
3) these is no map sensor clip. if you are talking about the connector, Yes. the L36 and L67 MAP sensors have different connectors. I have heard that the L32 Map uses the same connector as the L36.

Assumption: the Idler stand off that mounts to the L67 block... I am assuming the bolt locations are present on the L36 block.

FYI:
Installing headers on 1st gen Wbody such as older GP's, lumina's, Monte carlos you will need to cut the fire wall to make room for the down pipe. this section of the fire wall is actually a double wall and after you cut it there is still protection there. I cut a 8" long by 6" wide section that looked like a turtle shell once removed. I then used a BFH A.K.A. large hammer to pound the first fire wall flush with the second. this made just enough room for my DP. If i were to do it again i would have cut 1-2" more on the driver side and pounded more on the pass side for the O2 sensor. ( will be corrected when installing topswap as I did headers during a swap from DOHC to L36)

Hello I have a 2003 grand prix gt. Na. And I recently bought a turbo kit and it came with a bunch of extras. I'm not going turbo but want some opinions and or guidence on my build. My car has 248,000 miles on it. And I'm going to do somewhat of a top swap. I have a supercharger, gtp heads, lim, zzp powerlogs, valve covers, 3in downpipe and catback exhaust, all vacuum lines and wastegate for supercharger, boost gage, a/a front mount intercooler, all the turbo cooler lines, a turbonetics t 62-1 turbo but it's blown, a risk bov, and wastegate, and a few other things. Am I making the right choice by simply selling the turbo, and all the things that go along with it? With as many miles are on my motor and the limited amount of money I have? I'm gonna buy pistons, rings, and wrist pins as well as an hv3 insert and maybe a cam. With bigger valve springs, and a double roller timing chain. And an hd transmission. Thoughts? Opinions? Any ideas on other things I could do?

Thoughts...

Buy a lower mileage motor and topswap or turbo it. For the price you pay for pistons, rings etc can easily pay for a lower mileage motor. Turbo will give you more power then a SC but it depends on what your goals are. Turbo it and you'll definitely want a built trans.. Your stocker will be on borrowed time.

Also most people who try to rebuild their motor end up needing to replace it anyway as they do not last. Like said get low mileage block and swap it over.

Google Stricklers auto parts. They have a bunch of low mile L26's. They are located in Ohio.

If you just want a little more power without sinking a lot of money into it then do a top swap for sure. If you want to go fast then get a turbo.

I want more power but preferably better acceleration, of course I am looking to do this for as cheap as possible. I see other posts suggesting a tuned PCM, I do not know how to go about getting one in South jersey.

EDIT: I see people saying to use an open cone intake? If I use a 3 in. 45 degree PVC elbow with a cone filter, wouldn't that bring in hot air and not cold? What is the best way to make a cold air intake without risking taking in water?

Hi guys I'm new here OK I understand that the top swap the only question I have is on my 00 bonnie can I use the pcm in my car and just have it retuned for the s/c or will I need another pcm for al67 engine

So, I just heard from my tuner than my whole engine harness had to be changed. Is this correct. Changed from inside the dash also.
