The Go Kart from hell

project race miata..need options

well i spun a bearing in the my unknown mileage motor and i need to get this ready for autocross season, which is coming up soon.

options

1. part out the LSD/ Trans/ suspension/ cage etc. sell car and move onto something else

2. pull the 1.8BP motor have it rebuilt and throw a turbo kit together with parts ive had laying around

3.sell driveline and purchase 2jz/W154 5 speed set up and have a nose heavy pig

4.??

I'd say LS swap, but that'd not be for the best in autoX

My vote is to pull the motor, rebuild it, and clean it up real nice. Turbo's help in the cleaning process.

As much as I would love a ls swap its just too nose heavy for my goals with the car. I don't believe a l67 swap has been done, maybe weight being the issue?

Ill be pricing out forged slugs and possibly rods.

If you do an aluminum LS, it would be fine in the weight category. My buddy is basically putting a Miata on a CTS V drivetrain. It is going to be fun. :th_devil:

well the turbo on the right is a throw away from an 04 audi A4 (free), i picked up the turbo on the left, its a T3/T04E .60A/R. should be good for 350+ hp. full spool by 4500rpm. (150$) and a trip into the hood

The motor has been torn down and sent off for machining, should see it back in a few weeks.

yea, im thinking ill end up going with a DIY kit as i can spend some time and hone my soldering skills, plus the community support behind that standalone is fantastic.

well i got the motor back and assembled myself and the car is up and running again. next step is add megasquirt and get that figured out.
