M62 Swap...

Look for a rotrex SC then If you want to see something that hasnt been done! It would be close to your 1200-1500 dollar buget and make more HP and take less to drive than any screw type SC on the planet!!!

Maybe I shoulda just skipped every mod I ever did to the car and hit it with a 150 shot! Woulda saved myself all that time and money putting a cammed L32 with supporting mods in it!

I think you missed the memo lol
This is why I'm doing it...

3.2 pulley from 4100-6300rpm

2.9 pulley from 4100-6300rpm

I can't figure you out, guy. You create a thread titled "M62 Swap" and you are desperate to fit an M62 on your car. Recently, however, you are talking about getting an R1320 TVS, a rare species. But then, you post a performance diagram of BOTH the M62 and R1320.

Also you give a pulley size of 3.2 for the M62, and 2.9 for the TVS (above). Why are you posting the M62 performance? Are you using BOTH the superchargers?

AND the TVS is only flowing about 400CFM at the point you highlighted, so your engine would be running more or less unboosted if using ONLY the TVS. You would need to pulley down for proper volume.

At the minimum, I am convinced you don't know how to read a pump curve.

Kudos for doing custom mods though.

P.S. Why not go straight to the R1900 and run at 75% efficiency?

That's an m90 map not an M62 map. I posted that and the TVS map to show a comparison of the two blowers using the airflow I'm currently getting out of my M90.
The TVS will be a 100% bolt in replacement for an M62 if I can get it to fit.
The TVS1900 is more money and a lot less likely to fit, also it's too much blower.

At minimum you should read more before telling me what I am capable of.

Why don't you compare a W140AX and a TVS R1900...? Since those are comparable blowers.

So...most of this thread was pointless since your not using an M62 anyways?

Exactly a more effecient Gen5 size SC is the answer not a smaller more effecient SC.

I still say the Gen5 is not the limiting factor in his setup at all.

omg this is absolutely the most frustrating thread I've ever started...

The TVS blower is a DIRECT BOLT ON SWAP FROM AN M62. THEREFOR I NEED TO GET THE M62 TO FIT. IF I CAN DO THAT, I WILL BUY A TVS AND SWAP IT ON.

Kudos for doing custom mods though.

The TVS1900 is muchhh bigger than the M90. I have no idea how you think they're the same size.
And I say you're wrong.

Back on topic guys. lets help and get this done so we can see the final budget and finished product. Good idea or bad, he is trying it and going a head with it. so lets either help or not.

Goal
mount m62 to L32.
Possibility 1) adapter plate: cut a spare Lower intake manifold and use its upper surface as the mounting plate? then weld the neck off of a LIM from the m62.

Possibility 2) say to hell with the BBV and block it off

Possibility 3) make a wooden adapter like suggested but add wood to mate with the BBV. if that works then Yeah!!! or use as template to make a more perminate metal or plastic adapter.

its good being different. its one of the reasons i love my DOHC so much. one of my friends even made an adapter and is running an M90 out the top of his hood on his DOHC.

wow 5 replys since i started writing... good points. i know your set on that specific blower, but if your gonna go thru the work to change blowers find something even stronger and more efficent

You're right, its an M90. So I think we have discussed every power adder in this thread.

You still cannot read a pump curve though. That highlighted TVS point.....sure, you chose the 10 PSI boost and thought that was what you're getting. Guess what? Look at the flow, for the billionth time. You need more flow, so the pressure wouldn't be 10PSI.

You have to intersect flow and pressure to find your efficiency.

Your engine would be almost N/A.

I must facepalm now.

The good news is that you can use the TVS 1320 for better performance than the M90. You just have to review your operating parameters.

{Didn't mean to sound condescending in the last post}

EDIT: BTW, R1900 is almost the exact size of an M112. Only a little tiny bit bigger.

With a 2.9 pulley on the TVS the flow would be around 705CFM @ 15550ish RPM of the blower which is ~6300rpm on the engine.

How would that be anywhere near almost n/a?

I didnt say the TVS was the same size as the M90.

Their is a reason people use the M112 their easy to find and cheap from the ford guys. And easier to fit.

I have yet to be impressed by an M112 powered 3800. The blower still sucks. Ideally the TVS1650 would be used for the 3800, but I can't get my hands on one, let alone for 1200 bucks.

The 1320 is leaps and bounds better than the M90 and M112 for a 3800.

Still with the budget your talking about a turbo setup would easily get 350 plus WHP.

Yes you've addressed the heat and eatons sucking a million times.
For the money anything less than CSC or turbo is pointless

Well the point you indicated on the TVS map was 400CFM, which I told you was not enough.

705CFM is enough though, but then you move efficiency out to about 67%.

Which is still much better than an M90, but don't point toward the peak efficiency then.

SO...go spend all this money on this cool TVS blower (that has been done on a Regal already back in the day) and I'm going to toss a tiny little turbo and run 8-10psi on my silver car and make tons more power and go faster.

So I get a medal? Or do I get to open the presents earlier out of my parents closet?

The point that's in the middle of the map is the engine at 4100rpm.
Do you still think I can't read a pump map?

Please give me links to the thread that has proof of someone else already doing this.

Also good for you and your turbo car.
