M62 Swap...

All right so if you are in planning on using a TVS 1320 which in fact has the same mounting as a M62 becasue its a direct replacement you CAN get away with using a smaller SC becasue the TVS is a 4 rotor 160 degree twist rotor pack VS the M62s 3 rotor 90 degree twist.

Ive been looking on Cobalt and Ion Redline sites and their are people using the TVS as a direct replacement but their still expensive. If your getting one at a price close to what Gen5s go for I'd certianly like to know!

Using a TVS is apples to oranges compared to a M series SC but either way that makes a whole lot more sense now. :)

I just need to get the M62 to fit, so far I have $80 into this project. Then I need to buy a TVS for about $1,200 and sell my GenV with the MPS to recoup some of the cost.

This is an M62 supercharger off a 2007 Cobalt SS...
I want to swap this blower on my Regal, in place of my GenV. Just roll with me on this one... I can figure out all the PVC/Vacuum issues on my own, I just need help with some sort of an adapter plate.

Quoted from your first page lmao

You're taking that out of context and not including the 50 times I asked for people to overlook the whole M62 thing.

Regardless let's get back on topic here... you all know the big dark secret so lets get this M62 bolted up.

BTW you said you wanted to make 350WHP cam only. You could make 350whp on the genV cheaper with a cam and an IC for less then the TVS cost. Just saying. But its cool your trying something different

1200 dollars tho would easily put a meth kit, or nitrous, or an IC, or E85 on your car actually you could prolly pick 2 of the above for the 1200 dollars price tag!

Props for doing something different but not for that price tag.

thats like saying Im going to convert to a FWD setup, I just need to get the car setup for it and then change to btw Im dropping a blown 427 small block and a t-56 6spd with all the credentials to make it a f-body with a w-body sitting on it.

Now... your wanting cooler air going in, more CFM, and a budget of 1500 +/- not counting your money back on what you sell whats left for. At 1200 for this TVS blower, why don't you just wow people by buying a Paxton Novi for 1000 and have it all... and KNOW it works and the number it does. Cooler air, CSC/turbo displament, still supercharged and easier to mount without all the headache. Some things just confuse me lol

Its ok tho, lets see if this will work... Im excited for you

Intercooling the GenV doesn't fix the issue of the GenV still sucking... I'm going to make (hopefully) 350whp WITHOUT an intercooler. The TVS has more headroom than the m90 even though it is 9.5CI smaller. The money doesn't concern me... if I spend $1500 total and sell my GenV with the MPS for $500 I'll be ecstatic. Then I can work on designing an intercooler for the TVS and say hello to 400+whp on pump.

I'm going to pick up 20whp peak just from parasitic drag differences alone. Not to mention insanely lower delta temps.

At the rate GenV's are going now...your going to be lucky to recoup a quarter of the price this build is going to cost you.

Kinda makes sense now...but the TVS blower are expensive. Sure they may have a 70% or better effeciency rating but for the price you could find do something cheaper.

Me personally Id slap a 100 shot on your current setup for the cheap and use the rest for another engine lol.

Ill bet a 100 shot on the gen5 setup you have now would spank any TVS setup and NOT require an IC either!!!

......I would suggest mocking up a aluminum plate to apply the cobalt bbv piece that way you can always unbolt everything and remove the plate. Think of it like an adapter/spacer with a gasket on top and on bottom so you can work and modify without harming either Supercharger, or LIM

Said back on page 3 Post #58 by me... I still stand by it. Make a 1/4 alluminum "gasket" that matches the LIM. Then you can weld, cut, splice, etc ... whatever is needed to get the superchager to match it. If you need to make multiples for trial and mistakes, you didn't mess up a perfectly good LIM.

You have to start somewhere on a adapter plate, how you make it up to you... get to cutting

I have a GenV with roughly 10,000 miles on it that comes with an MPS and 3 different pullies... I couldn't get $500 for all that

Highly doubt it since I have a polished and ported inlet Gen5 with a mps and 3.4 zzp mod hub setup and belt wrap kit I was going to sell when my Regal GS burned down and people were low balling me for around 450 shipped. Since I couldnt get 500 in my pocket for sellign the Gen5 Im keeping it!!

I'll do this swap and put the GenV on the wall in my room. I could care less about the money, I want to do something that hasn't been done.
