M62 Swap...

The reason I don't just go with the "tried and true" path of getting an IC and running with the pack is because the IC does not address the fact that the blower sucks.

Said your self so why not just jump on the turbo band wagon your not going to over come the heat issue with a smaller SC thats a thermal issue not size my friend.

Faith equals hope and I believe science proves everything with that being said Im trying to find the effeciency charts for the M62 vs the M90 gen5.

If your on X pulley on your Gen5 your going to have to spin the M62 a third faster just to equal the volume your at now. And by spinning the M62 a thrid faster you will have a higher outlet temp than what your Gen5 is at right now.

Seriously use your gen5 and meth, nitrous, bigger cam, E85, or IC

At 6000RPM you need 684 m^3/hr of air, for a N/A 3800 engine.

For boosting to a pressure ratio of 1.5 using either supercharger you require 1026 m^3/hr.

A single M62 cannot provide enough flow, according the performance map. Even if you extrapolated outside of the map, the M62 would need to spin closer to 18K RPM.

So obviously you plan to use twin M62's. You now need 513m^3/hr from both of them, and at pr=1.5 they are approx 64% efficient.

The M90 at 1026 m^3/hr is roughly 54% efficient.

Now that we know you are using twin M62's (clearly one M62 is the worst idea known to man), how you will make an intake for both......I do not know.

Also consider the difficulty in routing a belt to two of these, and the higher losses incurred from two loaded pulleys and unknown idlers.

Two M62 will also weigh more than one M90.

I think the 10% efficiency increase is not worth it.

^ I like your avatard.

BUMP, snowflake....I know ur online. I'm waiting for a response before I try going back to sleep. :)

It's running through your head because he's given you just enough information to make absolutely zero sense. People like to know all the information in order to give the best answers and help with a project.

If he told you for example that a TVS blower is a direct bolt on swap for the M62 Cobalt and is an 80 cubick inch per revolution blower with much lower delta temps at higher rpm, it would probably make a bit more sense.

I still have my doubts, but haven't looked or researched it yet as I have a Gen V about to go on my car for very little invested and it's much more efficient than the Gen 3 currently on there.

FWIW....I blew his doors in with my high mileage nearly stock car the other night. Rain racing FTW :th_laugh-lol3:

Ever want to get a bunch of people to participate and work for you? Simply give them a good reason.

Keep things too vague and they wanna lynch you for not answering logical questions.

sorry..I was getting sick of the drama and bs the surprise was causing. Bet you'll be able to get much more help now that it doesn't seem like you are moving backwards.

As I recall, worst idea or not, he is only using 1 M62. As this is the reason he was questioning how to put a blower on the LIM. IF he were utilizing a dual blower setup it wouldn't matter as much because he could just make the bottom part the same as a M90 LIM and the top to fix the 2 M62s...

I still don't understand the logic, but as always, if it works w00ts :th_clapping::th_bowdown:

if not... I told you so will be said enough.

Go for it. Look at all the people that were told, that will never work, if they had listened to the other people we'd have no phones, lights, etc. Worst case scenario, it doesn't and you try something else

I think you missed the memo lol
This is why I'm doing it...
