JDrach's 98 Daytona- XP'd

Yea it shouldn't be much louder then stock. I would make sure the rockers are torqued properly and if possible look into different length pushrods. Meanwhile don't beat on the car until you figure out the issue. If at all possible park in meanwhile.

I never beat my car. Makes me wonder why I invest in mods lol. But I used a stethoscope and heard tht rattle/exhaust like tick sound when I out it to the front manifold., opposed to around the valve cover. I took another video and reved it and tried different angles and will upload it it helps.

Re: JDrach's 98 Daytona- XP'd

Close the hood and you can't hear anything. Besides when you crawl under the car and listen near the downpipe.

Re: JDrach's 98 Daytona- XP'd

Retorque the rockers and see where they are at. If a lifter exploded it can take the motor with it.

Re: JDrach's 98 Daytona- XP'd

Na, all i took was when the LIM and VCs were off. And east of indy to PRJ.

Re: JDrach's 98 Daytona- XP'd

Have a coolant leak, dripping from the lower solid mount pan/tray that it sits in. Could it be a water pump gasket? Coolant elbows look fine. Will lift it up at work tomorrow.

Re: JDrach's 98 Daytona- XP'd

Jacked the car up after filling the reservoir with more coolant. Can't find the leak anywhere. It shows drip page from the motor mount tray and right above the oil sender for my oil gauge. Any suggestions? Looking around the water pump n couldn't see anything. I remember after getting my lim gaskets don't it leaked coolant for a while, as well to my friends it dropped a bit but stopped after a few days.

Re: JDrach's 98 Daytona- XP'd

I was checking around that (alternator one?) and didn't see any. When I looked up from underneath, besides from it dripping from the motor mount tray, I saw some coolant above the oil line got my gauge. I wanna say it was the water pump I was looking at.

Re: JDrach's 98 Daytona- XP'd

Weird cause I just got an gm replacement one with a gasket. Didn't leak over night but wen I pulled into class I looked under and it had drippage from the mount again

Re: JDrach's 98 Daytona- XP'd

Update? Did you ever switch the pushrods out and see if the valvetrain noise went away?

Re: JDrach's 98 Daytona- XP'd

No but I've talked to some mechanics at work and ZZP and they said it was normal and yes, adding the 6.95" pushrods would slightly lessen the noise but is not required. They said my combo is completely fine/normal soooooo

Re: JDrach's 98 Daytona- XP'd

Nope. If ZZP thinks there's a problem then they can install them there. I haven't been around cars to know what sounds right and wrong, especially when changing out stuff for a stiffer valve train n cam. But ya if they think something's wrong they can decided cause I'm not going to if it's normal. Some say its fine others say its unusual.
