JDrach's 98 Daytona - Snappin chains 4 days

Re: JDrach's 98 Daytona- XP'd

Cause it's not needed. I literally do not want to do any more hassles with this car, even if it's running a rewire kit for the pump. If my pump wasn't pushing out enough PSI and I need to up it, then ill do it. But since I don't have to, and don't feel like messin with the car anymore, I'm not going to. Any free time, I can honestly say does not include wanting me to work on my car, at all. Just lost motivation and enjoyment from it and want to move on tbh. It's just a car lol

what happened to make you feel this way?

Re: JDrach's 98 Daytona- XP'd

It's not that your pump doesn't push out enough fuel. It's that it's fine right when you take off wot but if held at wot for a little bit it helps keep that fuel pressure up.

Re: JDrach's 98 Daytona- XP'd

Alright makes sense. But I don't know. I don't go to
the strip. Don't hang around the kids like have local car meets. Never beat on my car as is, and just with school, work, and trying to find leisure time the last thing I feel like doing is working on my car. Just don't care about how much faster I can make it, starting to seem pointless. Although I'm sure after the tune once I get on it that will change. When my trans goes, god idek what I will wanna do.

Re: JDrach's 98 Daytona- XP'd

So I drove up to ZZP and met Josh there to get the car tuned. Well even after adding the alt booster and 42# injectors, the pump is still loosing some power when they did the pulls. Made like...220 first pull, 240ish second pull after alt booster n 42# injectors. Was making around 16PSI of boost on the 3.4 pulley (was tuning for the XP cam). So they inspected it, dropped the exhaust at DP, and then noticed a gain of nearly 30whp or so at max for the last pull was 277whp. So my new cat i just put in is a restriction, so I'm going to get a new one put in, and head up there for a retune. As well as doing the fuel pump rewire kit.

My concern now is that I have this pump in now http://www.autozone.com/autozone/pa...N-jaczrZ8vcz2?itemIdentifier=427622_151360_0_

Looking at the connections, I wonder if the rewire kit from ZZP will work correctly. http://shop.zzperformance.com/store/p/72-Fuel-Pump-Rewire-Kit.aspx

Re: JDrach's 98 Daytona- XP'd

I am pretty sure you will run into the same issues I ran into when doing a rewire..

But anyway

Re: JDrach's 98 Daytona- XP'd

Just run a damn Frozen Boost converter like I told you to in the first place, goober.

Re: JDrach's 98 Daytona- XP'd

I remember reading about it, but never talking about cats with you lol. But ya I'm going to go catless for the mean time, then maybe get some flanges in place and put that cat in place. Or just get it welded in after. Either way I'll end up getting it lol. Hopefully I can pass emissions next year without one, we'll see.

Re: JDrach's 98 Daytona- XP'd

Been a while since I've updated this thing. Not a whole lot has been going on. Going to look for a venturi style pump today at the JY so I can get my Walbro 255 pump installed. Then eventually get this thing down to PRJ for a tuning sometime. Some tests I did lately were compression testing the cylinders. Front 1,3,5 were at 120,120,118. Then 2,4,6 were at 115, 119, 118. I thought they may have had a head gasket leak cause i suspected oil leaking. I'm not thinking its more so of coolant leaking, its minimal however. Josh asked me to see my MAF readings when WOT, they were around 24-26 lbs(?)/hr. And I'm cruising with -15ish LTFT LOL.

Re: JDrach's 98 Daytona- XP'd

Also, when I floor it, my car reeks of rotten eggs/ bad gas. No converter so its not clogged, all that extra fuel not being burned?

Re: JDrach's 98 Daytona- XP'd

I was looking around and read somewhere someone got up to 170 or something. Being a boosted motor I wasnt sure if it was normal or not, since they're all roughly the same.

Re: JDrach's 98 Daytona- XP'd

Granted all I did was let the car sit over night in the garage, swap plugs, and tested the compression. That's how i went about it.
