Re: 1997 Black GTP - Now With 04+ Seats.

You throwing 04 GP seats in the GTO ;)

Sh1t, you got jokes. GTO seats are best I have sat in to date. 8 way power adjust on both driver and passenger. Only downfall is no heat, but we all know it don't get cold in Tejas.

Re: 1997 Black GTP - Now With 04+ Seats.

Congrats on the seats, about Fvckin time. I loved mine, perfect for long haul drives.

I followed the write on the forum for wiring the heat, 04+ seats heat waaayyyy better.

My heated seat isn't working, and I'm hoping it is just a wiring issue.

I followed a write-up, but I could still have messed up some how.

Do you remember which wires paired with the stock harness for the heated seat function?

The write up said to make sure you have the 04+ pigtail connector. When I bought mine from the JY, I made sure to cut the wiring about 5" past the pigtail, then I followed the write up wire by wire and boom, full funtion with heat, never got around to doing the passenger side.

So, do you have the pigtail, or did you just hard wire it right in?

Worst case, the heating element is bad.

Re: 1997 Black GTP - Now With 04+ Seats.

I cut both connectors and just crimped the wires from each set together.

I take it that was a mistake?

Could probably get the pigtail harnesses from a junk yard.

Re: 1997 Black GTP - Now With 04+ Seats.

yeah, get the pigtail from the 04, then cutoff the stocker, wire in the 04 connector. Then plug in and test. If you look back through my Goldie build thread, I took pics, not sure which page it was on lol.

Re: 1997 Black GTP - Now With 04+ Seats.

Ok, went back through my build thread, the pics of my seat install are on page 51.

Looking through that thread, kinda miss that old whiney bish. Oh well.

Re: 1997 Black GTP - Now With 04+ Seats.

I'm about to take a look at it when I'm done with work.

Do I need the pigtail Harnesses from the 04+ for the seat, and the one That comes out of the floor?

Re: 1997 Black GTP - Now With 04+ Seats.

Oh. My. Goodness.

Tackled my wheel bearing today, and talk about a pain in the ass. First off, had to torch off the 3 hub bolts and same with the axle nut. That was the easy part. Once all the bolts were off, the Wheel Bearing was literally cemented to the axle splines. A LOT of heat, a huge hammer, and my Air hammer.... Over and over and over again to remove the wheel bearing completely. Almost an hour of just non-stop pounding.

My old Wheel Bearing was missing two ball bearings, and had roughly an inch of play. This thing was is in the worst shape I've ever seen.

New MOOG and Axle nut installed:

What a mess:

Started working on some wiring. Installed three new switches. One for my Halo's, Fog Lights, and Hi-Beams. Currently have just the Halo's wired up, because I'm still waiting on two HID kits. Also started working on the dual heated seat switch. That's why I relocated some switches.

Odd thing is, these switches are backwards. When the switch is the typical "off" position, it lights up and actually "on." Something I'm going to have to get used too. No idea why they are like that though.

Re: 1997 Black GTP - Now With 04+ Seats.

Thanks man. Looks pretty good there.

I figured with this switch, I could finally Hi-Beams again. H1 HID kit for the Hi-Beams, run the wiring to the switch then to a power source in the fuse box. This car will light up the night sky like no other with Halos, HID Fog Lights/Low-Beams/Hi-Beams.

I get myself confused pretty easily when it comes to wiring, but couldn't you just reverse the wires on the switch?

Re: 1997 Black GTP - Now With 04+ Seats.

Tried that. That was the first thing I thought off. There's three wires for the switch. Ground, power, load. I tried switching them all around, and a couple times I blew a fuse.

Re: 1997 Black GTP - Now With 04+ Seats.

Got the wiring harnesses from a junkyard for the 04+ drivers side seat. Followed the write-up again, and wired it in. I know the wiring is right. Everything works besides the heated seat, again.

What ever actually heats the seat, must be bad. Any idea what that's called and where I can get one?

Re: 1997 Black GTP - Now With 04+ Seats.

From what i have read (since mine has never worked) it is an element in the seat. And if it gets a break in it anywhere it wont work.

Re: 1997 Black GTP - Now With 04+ Seats.

The only way to replace it, is get a new seat?

Damn, that sucks. I'm not sure how I feel about that. I love my heated seat.

Now that I already started my dual heated seat setup, I probably won't wire it up now. Can't have my passenger be in more comfort than me LOL. I'll just have two heated seat switches that don't work. Placebo effect.

Re: 1997 Black GTP - Now With 04+ Seats.

I guess you could try taking the skin off the seat and see if the padding comes apart and you can get to the element wire.

Re: 1997 Black GTP, Soon To Have F-Body Brakes.

Tinted the stock tail lights to hold me over until I can justify spending $160+ on new LED tail lights. The tint came out great, but I made them too dark. Oh well, these aren't permanent.

They do need a good wet-sand/buff in a few days when the clear cures:

Also painted a friend's Air Dam the other day. Came out wicked:

OH, and I did make an impulse buy on some car parts the other day, should get them in the mail tomorrow. :th_sinister:

Your car looks great with those tinted stock tails! :th_drooling:

That's not happening. Lol. Ill just wire up the passenger side for now, and hopefully sometime down the road (possibly before winter) I can find myself another Drivers side 04+ seat for cheap.

Thanks man! Came out a little dark, but the VHT will fade over time. Always has for me.

Really want some LED tail lights back though :( I miss my old ones.

Re: 1997 Black GTP - Now With 04+ Seats.

That sucks on the seat man. I'll see if I can figure out the fix and possibly fix it next weekend.
