Another Question. Well actually two. I need to change the vacuum routing a bit since my car is a 97 and has a stupid Vacuum tree on the blower.

1: The Vacuum Line from the vac tree on the blower to the Bypass Solenoid (Under BBV) is what I currently have. I believe I need to reroute the line to go from the Bypass Solenoid to the Nipple on the LIM under the snout then to the MAP sensor. Correct?

2: The other Vac line on the vacuum tree on the blower goes to the Fuel Pressure Regulator. Where should that Vac line go. Fuel Pressure Regulator too..... where?

My best guess, Is run the vac line from the Bypass Solenoid to the Fuel Pressure Regulator, then from there to the nipple on the LIM under the snout, then to the MAP sensor. Anybody know the two vacuum T size fittings i'll need?

Looks pretty good. See one flaw. Under the snout area the wrinkles in the paint. But they won't be seen once on the car. Nice.

Like I stated at first, it's not perfect by any means and has some imperfections like you pointed out, and some orange peel on the back side. But who cares about the back side, ain't nobody got time fo' dat.

Sexy GTP man. Hard to believe that car's a year older than my Bonneville SSEI was. Love a lot of the color scheme. Exhaust tips look good and mean.

Since my parents always see me working on my car. They believed I could tackle the job of doing the Lower Intake Gaskets on 3.4 Grand Am GT (Sisters car).

Let me tell you what, this sh*t was awful compared to doing the LIM gaskets on a 3800 car. My god.

Starting the tear down:


Upper Plenum off:


Fuel rails next:


Then came the two valve covers, alternator, tensioner assembly, power-steering pump, motor mount, and lower intake manifold. Then of course you had to loosen all the rockers, to remove all the pushrods to get the damn gaskets out:

Hopefully i'll never have to do that again. Sucked.

Now onto my car.

Block the EVAP on the Gen V:


And got my adapter plate in the mail today:


Waiting on a 3/8 nipple to 1/8 NPT size fastener to screw into the bottom of the throttle body when I tap the brass plug for the PCV setup. Should be here Saturday.

Other than that, I have everything I need and I'm ready for the swap.

Good thing you didn't take the push rods out... There is one of those that is shorter then the rest and if you put a long one in there it rips the rocker out of the head... Watched a neighbor do that on his GA.

Ive done the LIM gakets on a 3400 GA too I know how you feel, dont you love how the push rods go though the gaskets? When I did it I actually did take the push rods out, got it back together no problem just made sure I put the rods in an organized order.

BTW the genv looks sick!

I did have to take all the pushrods out. You have to, to get the new aluminum gaskets in. I kept them all in order by sticking them in Styrofoam. The car runs and drives fine, so no broken rocker.

It so dumb that the pushrods sit in the gaskets. It's retarded. Whats even more dumb... you have to remove the tensioner assembly and alternator to get to one valve cover bolt, then you have to remove the power steering pump to get to two LIM bolt, and trying to get the three Power steering pump bolts is quite trickey trying to look through the holes of the pulley. Getting them back in is even harder. Possibly one one found its way back in... :th_shakinghead1:

I had one of my buddies trying to pay me to do his 3400 LIM gaskets and I told him no, once was enough for me. Unless I gotta do it in work I will IDC but as a side job, Id rather not. I got to many other projects of my own going on I can seem to find the time to work on them, well more like being lazy/tired most of the time I aint gonna lie

Im sticking with my L67, SO much easier to work on, by far.

And I appreciate it, I did take my time. Im not a patient guy, but the Gen V was worth it. Lol

The exhaust pushrod is just a shade longer, you'd never notice without really looking at it. Your neighbor is a fool. Everything should go back in its original order. Everyone should know that.

I dont plan on painting the block off plate, I dont mind the polished look, plus its already RTV'd on there, and its on the back anyways.

Not wanting to do a 3.4 Intake gasket on these Grand Am's is normal. I'd never do this again, if I can help it. It's quite the complicated job.
