Thanks for the input on your case. Odd the running issue was a common thing, I guess that could have been the cooking spark plug wires. Your story matching that other one pretty much eliminates the fire being fuel related, especially given the area it was in. I'm surprised you didn't have the normal reaction and make that an incentive to try and prevent that from ever happening again. Especially after 2 years? But yeah get those valve cover gaskets done. Mind me asking the year and how many miles was on it the time it caught fire? I'm on Tapatalk and can't see signatures in case some of that's in yours.
2001 GTP - 100K at the time of my small fire.
When it happened i knew i had really old spark plug wires, so them being exposed made me think they must have arced and started the fire. Didn't really have a noticeable leak at the time so didn't think oil dripping down might start a fire. Car ran great as usual after getting new plugs/wires, and a new oil cap.
Any good tutorials here on changing the VC gaskets?
