Re: My 2005 Impala LS

Damgits someone help me with my emblem dilemma lols.
Actually I have another question, I run full synthetic oil, my oil change is long overdue but I dont want to put expensive oil in it when I am doing my topswap next month cause ill have to change it again..
Question is can I throw in non synthetic oil in the car then switch back to synthetic?

Re: My 2005 Impala LS

There are so many mixed opinions on this, but going between regular synthetic (not high mileage) and conventional oil is perfectly okay.

Re: My 2005 Impala LS

Good to know thank you, I went to costco and castrol synthetic(my current oil) was on sale so I ended up buying that lols.
When I do my topswap Ill put in the royal purple and stay on royal, price has gone down alot since last year.

Re: My 2005 Impala LS

Topswap is cancelled, car needs maintenance more then it needs power atm.. and if I blow it up like 90% of people here seem to do then im screwed so its just not a smart idea.

Topswap is up for sale. $300, needs the idler pulley with bracket.
For sale thread tonight or tomorrow.

Re: My 2005 Impala LS

Just top swap it. I swapped my motor and put a new top end on it which is about the same as a top swap and I've had no problems so far.

Re: My 2005 Impala LS

sorry but no, I cannot afford it if something breaks, I think I will wait untill I can afford a 2nd car and buy something faster.which wont be for awhile lol.
but when I sell my topswap I am getting the windows tinted, then bank the rest.

Re: My 2005 Impala LS

what maintenance are you talking about that would not get done during the top swap???

sounds to me like your afraid to do it.... i was afraid to rebuild my top end (pretty much top swap, but just putting the same **** back on) but i did it anyway.

i was afraid to change my timing cover gasket, bc of all the **** i had to take off. did it anyway.

grow some balls and get it done.

Re: My 2005 Impala LS

well if you want the long story lol, had to replace front tires and front brakes, took alot of the small budget i had, still need to get the car tuned after and that's more money and I wouldn't be worried about those things except for the fact if i blow it up engine somehow I would have 0$ to fix my only vehicle. oh and the fact my job has their "seasonal shut down" so 2 weeks with no pay check...
its not a matter of "balls", its a matter of reliability and a lil money in the bank vs having more power, being broke and a chance of my engine going boom. atm in my current situation I need to pick reliability.
And no I wont top swap after I build enough money because it will be winter by the time I save up enough, then by next summer the car will have almost 300 000km. It will need suspension and will need a paint job badly... I wont drive a rusty car, rather be slow and the car look new then be fast in a crapmobile.
so that's why i have decided not to topswap, no budget for it atm and would rather put any extra money I have into new suspension, paint etc, "maintenance" , and a 2nd car one day.. a much faster one lol.
I hope you enjoyed my long story lol.

Re: My 2005 Impala LS

makes sense. i know how it feels to be on the low end of financials. my car sat at my schools parking lot for 3 months while i slowly bought the parts i needed to rebuild.

Re: My 2005 Impala LS

I guess this comes into play, I've seen it on the forums. [Cheap, Reliable, Fast] He chose the first 2, and I guess so have I.

Re: My 2005 Impala LS

 ya im very annoyed to say the least.. but i would be even more mad if I was stuck on the side of the road with a broken down engine and have 0$ to fix it lol.
once I get this car 100% again ill probably throw rockers on it and be done, oh and its hopefully getting tinted(if topswap sells). I have to get a 2nd car in the next 12 months roughly so it will be something faster.

Re: My 2005 Impala LS

Agreed.. but with this job (commercial truck driver)better paying jobs only come with experience, I am at 7 months when I hit 1 year I can move up. Right now I am only driving in ontario once I hit 1 year i will be hopefully team driving with my brother going into the states
