• The site migration is complete! Hopefully everything transferred properly from the multiple decades old software we were using before. If you notice any issues please let me know, thanks! Also, I'm still working on things like chatbox, etc so hopefully those will be working in the next week or two.

Danielle's 99 GT :)

So I cleaned the top side of the motor after work today and was just as impressed with the results as I was on the underside yesterday.

All went well. I let it cool off for about an hour before I went at it.
Covered the alternator and air filter with sacks and started spraying.
Let it sit and rinsed. Did that about 3-4 times.
I used a shop vac to suck up some of the excess water.
Then went to go start it, and it wouldn't start. So naturally I start freaking out thinking I did something wrong.
Get out, look at the bay and realize I took the bag off the alternator but not the air filter, duh!
Started right up after that. Left it run for about 15 minutes while I cleaned everything up.

Also, I was trying to check the power steering fluid because I think it's low from the noise I'm hearing.
Besides being very difficult to get to, how in the hell do you get the cap off?
I could only turn it maybe 1/4 of a turn to the left and it'd stop. I tried lifting up on it and everything and couldn't get it to budge.
Any tips or tricks?

I got it!
Took it out and couldn't really tell where the level was, so I got a napkin and wiped it off.
Put it back in, tightened it and took it back off.....guess what, no fluid.
So, pretty sure I found the reason I hear a moaning noise while turning.

How much does the tank hold?
Will 1 bottle be enough or to much?
I was going to just buy a cheap long necked funnel because there is no way I can pour blind into that tank.

just pour a little bit at a time, it fills up fast, then over flows all over your clean engine bay. use a long funnel, and a flash light it your doing it in the dark of night.lol

Not sure what it's called. But the cap/tube that screws onto the bottle and then allows you to turn on/off is baller in this area. Only add a little at a time.

It's not that hard to get to. Easy to reach your hand down and twist it off. It has a dipstick on the cap and it will tell you where the levels should be hot and cold, as well as a maximum. As everyone else said, a little at a time, and do it cold, so you know where your levels are at.

Im pretty sure its empty, or low enough that its not touching the stick. I cleaned it off and put it back in and nothing registered. I'll stop after work and get a bottle and a funnel.
I'm kinda short, so I had an issue being able to get bent over the side far enough to get my arm in there to get a good enough grasp.
It must have just needed worked free because now its easy peasy to take off.

Step stool. :P
Also, it's not that bad of a job, just make sure to get the skinniest funnel you can. I JUST bought one to do the same thing, I bought a fatty tranny funnel and it was near impossible to get it positioned in.

spoiler!!!!!
I'm so ticked!
I texted the guy again Sunday after he apparently forgot about me 3 weeks ago.
Set a time up to drop it off yesterday. I get a text 5 minutes before I leave work to meet him saying it wont work today.
I reply and ask to set up another time...I hear nothing back.

I drove past one of the good local shops and saw the owner outside and almost stopped (have the spoiler in car so it'd be easy to get a quote).
But I didn't.

Is it rude of me to stop somewhere and if their price is comparable, say sorry, had someone else do it?
Because part of me wants to stop by there after work to see what he'd say $$ wise.

I realize life gets busy, but damn...don't ditch a person for 3 weeks after you lost ,y phone number when you know a mutual friend who has it.
And then don't reply? I was nice at first and said no hurry...but after getting pushed off 2 times, I'm getting a little mad.

I WANT MY SPOILER PAINTED! :th_angry1:

If someone gets butt hurt cause you took your business elsewhere then they should just find a new profession. Life is too short not to enjoy new painted parts. If I got blown off like you did I would probably not be so nice. So do yourself and us a favor, go get it done so we can see the updated ride, thanks.

Not rude to offer your money to any business but it's rude and leans toward dumb on the part any business not to find a way to accomodate you in handing over your money that you so graciously offered to begin with. If a place is too busy then that is a good problem for them to have but it creates a possibility for customer service failures also. If you want your spoiler painted now then you need to take it to some place that will do it now.

That being said, I would hate to put a young lady in a situation where she worries if she is being rude so if you wanna just sell the spoiler to me for what you paid in order to be sure you don't offend that guy, I will be selfless and offer you that as an option as well :th_winking:

If the other place has been saying they will paint your spoiler for almost a month now, and hasnt, screw them. They obviously dont want your business, nor do they want to make your spoiler a priority. It would be one thing if they started it and forgot. I am not a painter so I dont know the steps involved, but when I had my lip painted it was ready for pick up in 2 days. They painted it the day after I dropped it off and had me come and get it after that. At this point I would spend a little more so you know it will get done sometime this year.

Nicely done on the clean up.

I say to go have it painted somewhere else. It's not worth your time to deal with waiting.
