• The site migration is complete! Hopefully everything transferred properly from the multiple decades old software we were using before. If you notice any issues please let me know, thanks! Also, I'm still working on things like chatbox, etc so hopefully those will be working in the next week or two.

Danielle's 99 GT :)

Spoiler is dropped off and should be ready for pick up tomorrow. Paying a little more but he does very good work that lasts.

Haha, wow guys.
He was pretty sure it'd be done by the time I got off work tomorrow. So as long as its ok to install, ill remove stock and I wanna polish the trunk lid really good before I install the new one.
Yay! I'm excited now :)

After you pour in the fluid, make start checking for a leak, i bet thats why your underside was extra nasty.. Power steering leaks suck!

Your high pressure hose is probably leaking. I had to change the one on my grandma's intrigue and it wasn't to bad though. Better than an oil leak though right?

Okay, so I kinda fell asleep and forgot to wake up at a decent time so I had to put p/s fluid in the car in the dark.
But I did get one of those funnels you screw on the quart, talk about nifty! That thing made such a difference.

But this time when I opened the tank, there was fluid in there registering on the stick but I still put a little in there to top it off.
I will check it in a few days again and see where its at. P/S fluid stinks tho, yuck!

Also, I crawled under the car to see if there was any leakage. I didn't see anything noticeable dripping, but the oil pan looks like it might be the starting point.
As you could all see, it was pretty clean on Sunday. It looks oily again and also the black tank infront of the oil pan? It looked kinda oily too.
However, could some of this be run off since I did the top side after? (I'm hoping that's the case)

Bear with me with my explanations because I'm not sure what it's called.
When I looked under and shined the flashlight on the underside, the cradle? (Square metal piece that goes all around the front and side of the motor compartment?)
Anyways, the left (passenger) side of that was oily. Again, hoping its run-off from the top-side washing.
Depending on the weather this weekend, I will get the car back up on the ramps and re-clean both top and bottom sides and start from scratch.

I was thinking my p/s steering was the cause of the moaning sound heard while turning, but apparently its not?
I checked tranny fluid and it seems to be ok. (read somewhere that may cause some moaning sounds from being low)
The car had a new/used motor put in it around 95k (now has 117K), so we aren't sure what all was changed or not.
We have new plugs and wires. The transmission shifts strong and never misses a beat.
I know doing a pan drop isn't the best. Would doing a filter/fluid change be a bad idea as routine maintenance at said mileage?

Any ideas or tips to look for would be great.

theres a HOT and Cold line on the "dip stick"
maybe that caused showing and not showing fluid.. moaning when turning could be bearing, or CV's.. PS...

It was kinda half-way between cold and hot.
Motor had been shut off for 2.5 hours when I did this.

Could the leak on the left side be from the motor mount?

the drop down bucket with 4 hols in it?

like this?

yeah thats the motor mount. it could be the front cover leaking in to the mount area, and out them holes. or just residual slime those 2 bolts are the bottom bolts for the motor mount.

Yeah your motor mount could be shot. It sits on the pass side in a little "cup" A pan drop and filter change is never really a bad idea. A flush is a bad idea.

Whats the other box like thing to the (top in this picture) of the motor mount "cup"?

If it's the mount, I would love that news.
The valve covers still looked good today. Granted, I only drove it maybe 30 miles today so its probably not enough to show leaking again.

Here is another dumb question.
Where does the tranny fluid go when you drop the pan?

Sorry *covers head in shame*

Haha, next stupid quetsion.
If dropping the pan causes the fluid to come out, how is that different from a flush?
Because you aren't actually "cleaning" the old fluid out? Just change filter and replace what you lost?

yeah, thats how i understand it.. flush is bad.. replacing lost fluid is fine...

and if I'm right it gets filled thru the dipstick tube.. slowly...

The flush forces fluid through the trans and it breaks chunks loose that would otherwise stay put. A pan drop just replaces some old fluid with new and the new filter helps out too.

in the pic, the part with 4 holes in it is where the mount kinda lives, the thing to the top of the pic is the oil pan. see the drain bolt on it?

Haha, I think I understand the tranny pan drop now. Thank god the boyfriend is handy for this stuff.

I think I have had the pans mixed up. If the black box is the oil pan...lemme guess, the silver weird shaped pan is the tranny pan?
I was thinking the silver pan was oil.
Does the tranny pan gasket get replaced as well when a drop is done? I think it may have a slight leak, unless its just gunk working its way down.

I feel like such an idiot.
