Andesmint's 2000 GT.. BROKEN AGAIN!!

Re: Andesmint's 2000 GT Battling KR

Frosty and myself both have S1x cams for sale for less than $200 just FYI, most people want more than that for rockers. You can grab a brand new set of 105# springs from Intense for about $100 as well.

Re: Andesmint's 2000 GT Battling KR

Well, I got all moved in to the new place with my girl. I still have alot to unpack... But I said F that i'll do it later because I got lucky and a garage opened up today so i jumped on it. Not very big but its big enough for my tool boxes, a work bench and still be able to work on the car so im pretty damn happy about that. Im building the bench now. Ill post pics later

Re: Andesmint's 2000 GT Battling KR

That's cool bro! If it's big enough for tools and workbench you are good to go man.

My garage is packed with full of stuff so that leaves me in the same boat as you. I have a workbench which I'm going to make bigger soon or later....Lol! It all works just fine for me though.

Re: Andesmint's 2000 GT Battling KR

This is pretty much what you will need for a cam install.
Springs
Retainers
Valve seals
Rocker bolts
Get the gaskets in this kit that you need plus the timing chain and dampener. http://intense-racing.com/Merchant2...roduct_Code=CIK-L67_32&Category_Code=3800_HCV

I JUST replaced my valve stem seals. should they be replaced everytime i remove the springs and retainers? and i got comp cams reusable rocker bolts so im good there.... so tempting...

Re: Andesmint's 2000 GT Battling KR

Just get the stuff that you haven't already replaced then. Like I don't think you will need new lim gaskets again. But you will need a new supercharger gasket.

can you recommend a good cam install writeup if there is one?

Re: Andesmint's 2000 GT Battling KR

aaron lives closee to me than you do blueguy haha. I'll more thab likely do it on my own if i do

Re: Andesmint's 2000 GT Battling KR

This write-up would be better, if they had some pics.... I been thinking about dropping a cam in my ride, but I haven't decided what I want to do yet.
Dan Smuts did most of my swap, as it was more of a learning experience for me, so I just helped where I could. We went through the wheel well. It was not too bad.

Re: Andesmint's 2000 GT Battling KR

From what I have researched on this, it is said that anyone doing this needs to be very careful taking out/putting in the cam because inside the engine block where the cam goes is very fragile.

That is what I'm nervous about. Also, more money for parts.

you just dont want to nick the cam bearings. so you need to be slow and easy with the cam in and out. why they use lots of lube.

Re: Andesmint's 2000 GT Battling KR

Not really sure, Dan took the cam out and put it back in. Although it didn't seem like he was super gentle with it from what I remember.
Edit: What Scotty said, Dan used a **** ton of lube on that thing. Lol
