2001 Pontiac Grand Prix SE (LOTS OF PICTURES)

Re: 2001 Pontiac Grand Prix SE Modfest

I went to the junk yard today. Got these parts for the car today. It a crying shame how many Grand Prix’s I saw with torn up side molding. From the junk yard dropping the cars on the jack stands wrong, to people just tearing parts off the car like they don’t give a damn. I got these the silver one is in great shape. The red lower part has two cracks in it. Not sure if this can be fixed.

Re: 2001 Pontiac Grand Prix SE Modfest

amazing work on the car! What is the motor the 3800 or 3100 and you keeping original paint color when goes to paint or dif color

Re: 2001 Pontiac Grand Prix SE Modfest

The car has the 3100 in it. As far as color it’s going to be a shad darker than it is now, but yea it will for the most part be the turd brown. I dont see alot of modified GP's that are brown.

Re: 2001 Pontiac Grand Prix SE Modfest

I kinda like the wheels. Gives the car a nice stance. What kind are they and do you know what the specs are on them?

Re: 2001 Pontiac Grand Prix SE Modfest

I bought the rims online at tirerack.com. I had never before bought rims online before, so I was a bit worried how the whole thing would work out. I’d have to say, it went without a hitch. I did my homework and made sure they would fit and perform as I wanted. The specs on them are as follows:

Re: 2001 Pontiac Grand Prix SE Modfest

I got a F250 with 625 HP It has all the power I need right now. I don’t have plans to change the motor out. What I’m trying to do is make it a very attractive GP. I got a 15 year old kid that might want to learn how to drive in this car someday, if not, well then I got a nice looking toy to play with.
This is my Mod'ed 250 for all y'all rednecks out there.

With any luck the next photos of the car will be with side skirts new hood and door almost ready for paint shop

Re: 2001 Pontiac Grand Prix SE Modfest

Thank the lawd, GT skirts.

Will really pull it together and not give it that "gap" or missing look.

Re: 2001 Pontiac Grand Prix SE Modfest

Today was one of those days where you think things should go smooth and fairly simple, but don’t. I took my car to get a wheel alignment, simple enough right? Well they took the car in and I was watching them they had the car 3 whole minutes before one guy was waving me to come in the garage where the car was. I thought, well this can’t be good. Turns out my outer tie rods needed replaced. Seems they should be replaced more than once every 100,000 miles. So I had them give me a quote. 469.00 installed. Yea, not happening. Got the parts and did the job myself.

Yea I remember years ago I got an insane quote like that. It was about $550 but just for one outer tie rod and a front sway bar with links. I was like no thanks I'll do it myself.

Re: 2001 Pontiac Grand Prix SE Modfest

It is a clean car Nate. I’m the second owner of the car. Bought it in 2003, and I have taken real good care of it over the years. So instead of selling it to some kid that doesn’t give two ***** about Pontiacs, I thought I’d mod it a bit. See where things stop.

Re: 2001 Pontiac Grand Prix SE Modfest

Today I sent the side skirts in to get repaired.
When the junkyard dropped the donor car on the stands it cracked the skirts.
I also started to make my own GP badge for the grill. I got inspired but a white GTP badge that gtpeddie had this done. I’m planning on debadging the car and then adding this small detail in the grill. I’m not entirely sure how his are made but I thought I’d have mine be just GP. Since I’ve been to the junk yard a lot in the past few weeks I manage to acquire a door badging or two. Took the G and P cut them out and glued them together, then I ordered white inlay to put on the top. I’ll take pictures when I get the inlays.
Here is his photo of his car.

Re: 2001 Pontiac Grand Prix SE Modfest

I'd take it somewhere else for the alignment now, thats an insane price for a tie rod end. I'm a mechanic and it's maybe a 50 dollar part with mark-up, plus the .7 hours labor and add the alignment and it's just about 220 bucks out the door. Which isnt absurd to many customers.

And that super duty must be pushing some serious boost to make that much hp, I'd assume it's a 6.0 that studded/bigger turbo/built trans dealio.

Re: 2001 Pontiac Grand Prix SE Modfest

Afraid not its a 7.3 Powerstroke: Cold Air Intake, 6 postion Tuner, Turbo upgrade, Injector upgrade, 6 inch exhaust. I not actually had it on a Dyno but thats should be a fair estimate. Its not bad for a old truck.
