Re: 1997 Black GTP, Tune Up Almost Finished.

What Brando said. Coil pack could be bad, ICM could be bad. It could be a number of things. I went through the same thing with mine and ended up replacing all my coils and IC block.

Re: 1997 Black GTP, Tune Up Almost Finished.

Oh I was referring to scotty talkin about catchin the gas that spews out in a can or something. Psh! Who cares. :th_nanana:

But yeah man, honestly let Josh Jordon and very unlikely me look at the car this weekend. That fuel filter will come off it's not the end of the world. And we can figure out the misfire and mpgs. You haven't considered other ignition components other than plugs and wires.

But your not even driving up this weekend. And josh doesn't know sh*t

:)

Re: 1997 Black GTP, Tune Up Almost Finished.

Ill be there at Josh's after I get out of work idiot lol

Oh thank the lord you will be there. LOL

Cylinder 6 is what's misfiring, im going to replace just that coil pack today and go from there. just to save money instead of buying all three

Or here's an idea.... Swap coils around and see if the misfire moves.... How's that for not knowing sh*t....

Oh Joshua. I just mess with you.

Got the car scanned, cylinder 6 is misfiring.

I'm running up to advance auto parts and grabbing a stock coil pack. Hopefully that works. If not, its got to be the ICM

That my friend is not set in stone yet, you just may see me. Dunno yet.

And don't rule out fuel as a possible issue either. Cylinder 6 injector should be looked upon as well.

We are removing the fuel rails to paint them anyway so I'll look at #6 injector. What should I be looking for?

Swap it with another injector.

Same with the coil pack.

Also, you can remove the ICM and have it tested for free at your local auto parts store.

Could be that too.

what he said. it's only 5 nuts to get the fuel rail off would be totally worth it to swap an injector and monitor your misfires.

and in the meantime (if you're waiting till saturday) you could try to check cylinder 6's injector with a stethoscope (if you have one) they sound terrible in the stethoscope lol. listen for "clank clank clank." if you don't hear that perhaps it's dead or weak. but swapping it to see if it moves would be just as easy I reckon.

Re: 1997 Black GTP, Tune Up Almost Finished.

Did you ever get the filter off? A plugged fuel filter can cause misfires.

I'm swapping the coil pack today and rescanning car, I'll check my injector too if I have time.

No idea where or how to remove the ICM though.

Re: 1997 Black GTP, Tune Up Almost Finished.

well i know you take all 3 coils off. then there's like 2 studs or something on the bottom of it from the passenger side looking in. haven't had it off in a while. but that should ballpark ya.

Re: 1997 Black GTP, Tune Up Almost Finished.

I'll give it a look either tonight after work or tomorrow. Found out my boost bypass valve is broken, that might have something to do with my problems. Ran up to ZZP today and bought a new one. Will get pics later tonight.
