Re: 1997 Black GTP, Now With Gen V Installed.

Hm.. Well if you wanna bring it out here when the weather gets a little better I am sure we can get it all hammered out.

I'd like too, just dont know how long I want to go with a decently sized vacuum leak.

I know this is gonna sound dumb but why not just get a gen 5 gasket?

Because a Gen V gasket from ZZP is $40 and from AutoZone it's like $60.

HA! No way in hell I'm paying that.

Re: 1997 Black GTP, Now With Gen V Installed.

But worth it and re useable...I played the cutout the gen 3 gasket to gen V size opening game before and theres not enough meat leftover to call it a useable gasket even with rtv.

So your saying thats my issue?

I used a Gen III gasket, and used some RTV on the corner to "connect" the gasket. Since it had to be cut.

Re: 1997 Black GTP, Now With Gen V Installed.

I honestly dont remember what we used for Anmars car... But I wanna say it was a Gen3

Re: 1997 Black GTP, Now With Gen V Installed.

Why the hell is that gasket so expensive?
IDK how good the Victor Renze gaskets are but partsgeek has them for $27.95 + shipping just search under 2006 grand prix.

If you go on RA and search for the Fel Pro gasket under a 2004 its ~$41 search under 2006 its ~$30 2 different part numbers.

I bet your pump is wired backwards.
+to -. Switch the wires and see if it'll spray. The motor will work both ways.

I wonder why the price difference is so much? Either way, It's still expensive for a blower gasket.

I color coded the wires from power and ground, so I doubt that's the issue but I could be wrong. I'll have to check one of these days though.

Re: 1997 Black GTP, Now With Gen V Installed.

I have my 06 stock gasket that was on mine when I took it apart before the ic install. I believe it still looked good but I'd have to check. 75k, Idk if it'd still work for you?

Re: 1997 Black GTP, Now With Gen V Installed.

seems that $40 to prevent that vac leak doesn't seem unreasonable

Not for a guy that doesnt have an income and is currently unemployed, I apologize I "can't" afford a $40 paper gasket. Thanks though...

If it's still looks to be good, PM me.

Still looks good, n they're only 25-30 bucks off rockauto before shipping.

Re: 1997 Black GTP, Now With Gen V Installed.

Brought the car into the shop to get the MPS system on it. Tried out the 3.5 and didn't see much KR at all. Did 3 pulls from 0-90.

The car has the P0300 code for Random Misfires, and even at 10% throttle (Boost at -10.5ish) just cruising or barely accelerating, Im seeing 1-2* KR, if not more at times? :th_scratchhead: Makes me tend to think my plugs are bad. I have AL606 Coppers in there as of now, and they've been in there for easily 10k+ miles. Not sure what else could be causing the KR while just cruising.

Well chances are when you pull the plugs IF you chipped a piston you will see the damage on the plugs.

Ill take a look when I replace the plugs. If one of the plugs is destroyed, I may be taking a drive to your house so me, you, and Brandon can remove the heads and see the damage.

Fingers crossed no damage is done though. I'm too broke for a new bottom end.
