Re: 1997 Black GTP, Even More Of An Engine Update.

Well I honestly don't have $300 to blow at the moment. since we are friends, make a good plan for me

Re: 1997 Black GTP, Even More Of An Engine Update.

Step 2 of 4 done.

Upstream o2 Sensor, and can you say Pain in the as*. The sensor was in a very tight spot and i was crawling all over the engine but finally i managed to get the old out and in with the new. Hopefully this will up my MPG's some.

Re: 1997 Black GTP, Project Mpg, Step 2 of 4.

What brand is that? Looks alot smaller which if it works well would be better for those of us with SD Headers that are really close to the tunnel. More room is always a plus.

Re: 1997 Black GTP, Project Mpg, Step 2 of 4.

Looks like it replaces the Tru Tech Part, but regardless $25 and a smaller size will make a world of difference if it works well and gives more room in the tunnel. I barely beat mine in and it gets close but haven't noticed any knock from it, even in reverse, but a smaller sensor would be ideal.

Part Number: AM-26912137
This part replaces:
STANDARD MOTOR PRODUCTS #: SG272T

After looking through pages and pages of the novel you are putting together here I can finally say, Nice ride man!!! Liking the SD hood and grilles.

I just bought the cheapest upstream o2 sensor i could find. Fits right in the old spot perfectly. Wiring harness clipped right in. Car is throwing no codes, runs fine and i reset my DIC and i saw 29 mpg on the highway. Right now im averaging 24mpg with some city & highway driving combined. Topped the fuel off, drove 100 miles so far, fuel gauge is still above 3/4 tank, so obviously im getting decent MPG so the o2 sensor seems to be working.

All you got to do is look at the first page, then the last and see the transformation. Ive put way to much money into this damn grand prix but i cant help it and i will continue to blow every pay check on it. Lol. Thanks though man, the front air dam and Sd hood really gives the front end such an aggressive look.

If i had 300 laying around i will buy this in a heart beat. Honestly.

Of course i dont get paid until NEXT thursday, so either PUT ME ON PLAN WHERE I CAN PAY YOU OFF :)

OR

Wait until i have the money

OR

Just forget about it :(

Re: 1997 Black GTP, Project Mpg, Step 2 of 4.

When ya get the dollars ill let the guy know. See if be can make another trip ;) just for you dan.

Re: 1997 Black GTP, Project Mpg, Step 2 of 4.

Dont want to jack the thread, quick question on the upstream O2 sensor, is it used in conjunction with headers? Or will replacing it regardless just benefit MPGs?

Awesome ride man so jelly of all the work you have done on it!

I have no idea since i do not have headers. All i know is, if your upstream o2 is bad, your MPGs will drop, so replacing will increase MPGs some.

Thanks man, i try to make her look good and i think im doing alright so far.

Re: 1997 Black GTP, Project Mpg, Step 2 of 4.

Car is now throwing two codes. P0171, so most likely its my New o2 Sensor. Dont know why it took a week for it to throw a code but who knows. Also, im getting P0306 which is saying i have Cylinder 6 misfire. I have no misfire, thats for sure because it drives and runs perfect but most likely i have a bad spark plug, which doesnt surprise me.
