This is not crap, it is true to an extent. 87,89,91,93... Those are the octane rating (how easily the fuel combusts) If you run 93 in a crappy low-compression engine, it is harder for the fuel to combust. This equates to a loss of power and or worse fuel mileage. Now, how noticeable those effects are... That's debatable.

Octane has to do with how hot the cylinders are getting.... It is kinda the Flash rateing of the gas.
