M62 Swap...

I have no idea what the hell is going on here with the M62s but I still want to know how this is supposed to work.
Everyone thought I was on crack long time ago when I said the CTS-V brake swap could be done now look at everyone drooling over Drunkies setup!..................................
 
I plan to (hopefully) shake the 3800 community up with an unprecedented (yet painfully obvious) blower swap.

If it works.

Still highly doubt thats going to happen esp when nothing from vendors has been done already. This seems like reinventing the wheel isnt gonna happen.
 
Not reinventing the wheel at all... ZZP and Intense have all but given up developing new products for us.

Anyway, with any luck at all you will soon see the light.
 
No my point is if this is so "obvious" im about 99% sure this would have been done already. Kinda like the one in a million thing Im saying theirs a chance just not very likely to say the least LOL.

Using the M62 provides a cheap road to testing out the idea that a smaller and more efficient blower will make more power, even if you need to spin it faster.
There's a delicate balance that I need to maintain... and I think I've found it.

Now I just need to get this stupid little blower bolted up and we can test my theory.

Smaller and spinning faster makes HEAT! Which in turn throws your more effecient theory out the window!!
Plus heat makes the need for more cooling reguardless of the SC size.

I will say its IMPOSSIBLE to spin X SC faster and make less heat!

Spinning a smaller SC faster makes no sense when you can use a larger say Gen5 and spin it slower and create less heat.

It all comes down to volume and temp. Their is no way your going to spin a smaller SC faster to compensate the volume and make less heat

Our blowers are much more prone to making heat with boost. The speed at which they spin plays much less of a role.

As you can see a 5psi rise in boost pressure significantly raises delta temps... yet a 300% increase in blower speed barely raises them at all.

I've done my homework here and I know what I'm doing. Why is it so hard for you guys to just accept that and help me work towards my goal, rather than grill me about why?

This is EXACTLY what I intend to do.

Yes I understand how the SC works and what factors cause the temp. The M62 is effected less partly becasue the smaller rotors have less surface area to make friction causing less heat. My point is why not just use whats tried and proven like a IC and a Gen5 like plenty of other have.

Im not trying to derail you and belive youve put some thought into this tho Im definalty not on the same page

Same as me thinking of cam plus IC plus gen5 making what 400WHP?? Is a sh1t ton of work plus depending on the cam the need for head work.

Turbo plus rockers should get damn close to that 400WHP # Im using for an example so unless your going to make at least 20-30 more HP than a IC'd Gen5 setup I really dont see how this is worth the effort.

Turbo is where its at simply becasue of the heat issues alone that ALL screw type superchargers make.

Now a CSC SC kit is a whole different story tho very few are around.
 
As I've said before... My goals are 350whp without an intercooler on my cam-only L32 on 93 pump.
For comparison my GenV put down 301whp under the same conditions. My goals are slightly ambitious but I believe that regardless of whether or not I reach them, I will make substantially more power.

The reason I don't just go with the "tried and true" path of getting an IC and running with the pack is because the IC does not address the fact that the blower sucks.
I also will no longer be addressing anything else regarding "Why". If you have any input to help me fit this thing on my motor I'm all ears.
 
Bigger cam more fuel..... If you already have a Gen5 the SC is not the problem!

So your trying to make 49 more HP with a SC that moves about a third less air? Without an IC and by spinning the smaller SC faster?

How do you plan on the smaller SC moving less air per revolution to make more HP than a Gen5? I certianly doubt the outlet temps of the M62 spinning faster will be lower than the Gen5! Which will cause you to need some type of IC which you just said you dont want to use.
