This was in my way

So I got rid of it

Interior going back together

Need to cut brake pedal a bit

Now that the hardest part is done I can take a couple days off from work to pull the motor and install the trans. Poly for the trans mount came in today aswell. Going to make a trip to the jy tomarrow to find my ebrake assembly.

Re: Gins 04 Comp G 5 speed?

How hard was it removing the airbag and steering wheel? I would like to swap my steering wheels soon.

First time cus I didn't know what to do sucked. second time was cake when I forgot to plug in a wire lol. Basicly remove the #9 and #11 fuses I think under hood, should be sir and horn, d/c pos and neg bat cable and put the terminals together to discharge any remaining power in the car. Then unplug the 2 yellow connectors for the drivers side (one is behind the door on the drivers side where the fuse panel is on the pass side, the other is up under where the gas pedal is) I went inside to eat lunch so I waited like 30 mins but because you discharged the power you should be ok to continue. There is 4 notches on the back of the steering wheel, 2 on the left close to each other and 2 on right close to each other. All you have to do is get a flat head that will just fit in the hole and turn it when it bottoms out. Your basicly just moving a bar that is holding the air bag on a spring.

Re: Gins 04 Comp G 5 speed?

First attempt.. Failed lol stuck a screwdriver in it and started turning seemed like it was doing nothing. Or I was missing whatever I was suppose to be engaging. I'll have to give it another go in the morning.

Thanks for the video Scotty! Makes more sense now I'll give it a go in the morning to many skeeters roaming the area.

Re: Gins 04 Comp G 5 speed?

Thanks for the video Scotty got the airbag pulled off easily this morning.. Now what about the steering wheel itself Ginseng.. Disconnected everything.. Remove the nut that was holding it down. Anything else. I didn't want to go all Rambo and yank it until I made sure I did everything correct

Re: Gins 04 Comp G 5 speed?

you need a small puller. i used a small 2 jaw puller, set it up on the threaded shaft once you get the drive bolt good and tight, hit the drive bolt of the puller with a hammer, the wheel will pop free.

Re: Gins 04 Comp G 5 speed?

Fcuk lol that's what I thought I'll have to go rent one here shortly.

Re: Gins 04 Comp G 5 speed?

Hmm.. Was gonna go rent one from autozone since its 10 mins down the road vs HF which is in the next town over 40 mins away but I'll probably go buy one just to have for the future

Re: Gins 04 Comp G 5 speed?

I'll try it again in a few after lunch.. Worse case I'll tap the backseat with a hammer.

Re: Gins 04 Comp G 5 speed?

if anything should be tapped its the threaded shaft while you pull on the wheel. leave the nut on so the end threads are safe, and you dont hit yourself in the face with the wheel or something lol
