New MazdaSpeed3

Re: Gins 04 Comp G 5 speed?

Mike is saying.. because it's a gasket for a 3800, and you have a 3800, yes the gasket and all of it's holes will line right up.

Re: Gins 04 Comp G 5 speed?

do not use the plastic pan gasket/windage tray assembly with the aluminum pan unless your using the OEM horseshoe bracket for the lower engine mount.

i get the feeling GM was gonna go with a molded Oring gasket like much of their **** but all the N* issues probably came to mind so they went with the cheaper faster RTV option. ive only seen the earliest of the aluminum pans with an Oring gasket....all the rest are rtv

aluminum pan windage tray sucks.

Re: Gins 04 Comp G 5 speed?

Picked up my flywheel from the machine shop and took a trip to local jy for the smaller booster.

Thanks James ima run to the dealer and see if i can return the gasket.

Re: Gins 04 Comp G 5 speed?

Made some room for the master today
Getting the bigger one out was like giving birth.

I also took the time to flush my brake lines and put in fresh dot4 and install some ceramic pads. When i did the fbody brakes i went with semi metallics. Well my first good run down a winding road i was coming up to a corner about 100 and slammed on my brakes to about 60 and completely liquified them, my wheels were billowing smoke and i had no brakes.

Re: Gins 04 Comp G 5 speed?

So I need to figure out a hand ebrake that will work with my spring style rear calipers. Im thinking a g6 should work as it has the same setup but ima have to take a trip to the junkyard and take a look.

Just compared the calipers and they mount up exactly the same cable wise so now if the center cable is just long enough for the grand prix it should work.

Grand prix left G6 on right

overall your pretty lucky GM was cheap enough to make all their off the shelf parts work together to minimize secondary part numbers.

Re: Gins 04 Comp G 5 speed?

yea the g6 hand brake is going to work perfectly I think for what I have in mind. If I must do anything im sure I could find a longer cable or shorten my foot style one and make it work with the hand brake.

Re: Gins 04 Comp G 5 speed?

Tomorrow i will figure out how im gonna install the wilwood pedal and master

Re: Gins 04 Comp G 5 speed?

When I went from 97-03 calipers to 04+ in the rear (same as yours), all I had to swap were the cables in the rear. Loving GM.

Re: Gins 04 Comp G 5 speed?

Made some room for the pedal and master. Had to reroute wires and hood latch cable to that convenient hole just underneath the original hole that ill use for the master. Ive only put about 3 hours into everything done so far, I have work now but i have to grab some steel from there anyway to weld up a bracket for the master and pedal to mount to.

Looks good :)

Re: Gins 04 Comp G 5 speed?

manuals get the one foot brake pedal. yours looks like it need to be trimmed down some. all that does look like fun tho lol
