New MazdaSpeed3

Re: Gins 04 Comp G 5 speed?

Awesome progress man! I'm interested in seeing how you run the new hand brake. I've been wanting to do something like Kuntzie did and do away with the foot pedal all together.

Re: Gins 04 Comp G 5 speed?

Got my oil filter relocation kit in today so swap is happening this week.

Oh and trimmed/ cleaned up pedal assembly.

Re: Gins 04 Comp G 5 speed?

I'm glad you decided to stick it out and go through with this.

Re: Gins 04 Comp G 5 speed?

I bet it is, that must have been a lot of work. I wanted to go back and read through to see what you did but 20+ pgs no thanks. Not enuf time. Looks like you put a 5 speed of some sort in an 04 GP, congrats! Let us know how she does.

Swap isnt done. I just have everything for it and in the process of doing the swap. I installed the clutch pedal and master this week with the smaller brake booster. Now that that part is done i can move on to installing the trans and hand brake.

I'm gonna make time to backtrack and read up then since I didn't miss the whole show. Must lurk lol. Project sounds worthy to me. Love to see an unexpected left pedal in ANYthing. But with a rockin V6 and FWD I bet I would get into an awkward handling situation right off the bat and then it would be greasy side up!

Re: Gins 04 Comp G 5 speed?

Nice progress. Your gonna want some 90* fittings at the ofa end of those oil lines though as they will either kink or hang well below the subframe.

Thankyou, i plan on some braided stainless lines, just had to get it in so i knew what size the threads were cus they gave me no information when ordering.

Also now that im looking at how much the adaptor is that hooked up to the oil filter extension is alot fatter and i dont think its possible to get away with not getting the zzp spacer.

Re: Gins 04 Comp G 5 speed?

I just went back and browsed through this whole thread. Awesome swap so far man! When you get this thing buttoned up and running, I hope you can take a ride out to the shop. I would love a quick ride!
