• The site migration is complete! Hopefully everything transferred properly from the multiple decades old software we were using before. If you notice any issues please let me know, thanks! Also, I'm still working on things like chatbox, etc so hopefully those will be working in the next week or two.

Even still, I was left with some answers. Whatever else I learn that wasn't in those posts (and replies to those posts showing more info), I will share.

Dan's over at the old PontiacBonnevilleForum (GMForum.com now) was always my favorite, lots of good pics and info.

Skip the discount.. I would have called up and said.. I'm sure I've bought one before. Let's defective exchange the axle and...I've got the 3 year on this moog hub, don't care that I returned it last week. It's cool .

Maybe you did win this round Bill. And that's ok. I'm more concerned with fixing my car now before it costs me more money down the road.

changed brake pads, both front and back. all were low, 1/8 of a inch from the squealers, and the fronts were separating.

Nope, no hail. Was talking about that with guys at work about how much insurance would love hearing from me with more damage to the car. LOL

I personally did this in my 97 with no issues as wel
6 is a good fluid, but I'm not putting it in my worn trans. It's a little thinner than dex 3, and I have pressure issues as it is.

GM also states not to flush transmissions, but look how many people swear by them.

"The use of external transmission fluid exchange or flush machines is NOT recommended for the automatic or manual transmission. Use of external machines to replace the fluid may affect the operation or durability of the transmission. Transmission fluid should only be replaced by draining and refilling following directions in SI. Refer to Automatic/Manual Transmission Fluid and Filter Replacement."

Gm says use dex 6

GM said 10 years ago to use dex 3............so his dipstick saying dex 3 is 100% correct because of the year his car was made.

Dex 6 is for anything 2005.5ish and up and the fluid designed for that trans.

Sure its "fully" compatible for older cars, but its still not the correct fluid for the car.
