Last time I checked most people tell you not to do a external flush at all. And fwiw on my 97 when the original trans went I snatched a j-yard 98 model one with 95ish thousand miles all dex 6 no issues at all as preciously stated after 40,000 more miles when I traded it in for the Gxp choice is yours I'm just saying I'd rather use a superior fluid. If your trans is slipping then fluid won't help you.6 is a good fluid, but I'm not putting it in my worn trans. It's a little thinner than dex 3, and I have pressure issues as it is.
GM also states not to flush transmissions, but look how many people swear by them.
"The use of external transmission fluid exchange or flush machines is NOT recommended for the automatic or manual transmission. Use of external machines to replace the fluid may affect the operation or durability of the transmission. Transmission fluid should only be replaced by draining and refilling following directions in SI. Refer to Automatic/Manual Transmission Fluid and Filter Replacement."
It was the correct fluid for the car....read the bulletin I postedGM said 10 years ago to use dex 3............so his dipstick saying dex 3 is 100% correct because of the year his car was made.
Dex 6 is for anything 2005.5ish and up and the fluid designed for that trans.
Sure its "fully" compatible for older cars, but its still not the correct fluid for the car.
GM also says use Dexcool.....
GM also designed coolant elbows....
any of you know any good after market alarm/remote start for the GP.
is it complicated to instal?
did u mean "not complicated"??
if so goto a place that will install for u==----
Right, but when flushing the system you have two choices, dex or green. There are more disadvantages to dex than there are green. Dex is picky with anything else getting in the system(including air), and will threaten your cooling system with brown gunk. Any advantages? Green is just simple, it wont get sludgy, it works just fine, and is easily recognizable to even old people. You can see why people choose green. Not hating on dex-cool, just stating the facts.Gm also says flush your coolant at regular intervals and to only use dexcool. most people can't even do that right.theyll six it with universal green or put green antifreeze in and wonder why they have issues. Not saying its perfect and it initially had issues.
