• The site migration is complete! Hopefully everything transferred properly from the multiple decades old software we were using before. If you notice any issues please let me know, thanks! Also, I'm still working on things like chatbox, etc so hopefully those will be working in the next week or two.

What did you do to your Car today?

I heard that storm was going to hit parts of south dakota too, looks like you guys got it pretty good.

Yup, only a couple inches so far. Problem is, it rained all day yesterday so there is a layer of ice under it all. Already a huge branch had fallen off of a tree in my front yard and two in my backyard.

Swapped out a new headlight that was already showing condenstation inside; drove to Department of Labor to find out my part time job pay me too much to claim unemployment right now.

Drove to the bank to cash paychecks, when I got back I checked the wheel area to make sure there are no transmission leaks after I had it apart, and there's green grease everywhere...The CV boot is ripped. I really don't want to buy new cv's, they're working just fine and they just ripped, so no sand of water has gotten in them yet, so I just bought a kit with 2 boots and new grease.

How much was the kit

$17.11 for 1 cv axle (two boots, 4 clamps, 2 grease packets) and $9.58 shipping so $26.69. That's from rockauto. I couldn't find it anywhere else for a better price, so I had to pay rockauto's shipping.

Once you are done cussing at the axle and all the work you are going to have to put into repair you are going to wish you had just bought a new axle in the first place.

Repaired the strut tower in my van

Before:

After:

I also rotated the tires on the van and my car. On my bike I aired up the forks filled the rear end oil and greased the driveshaft and the start button decided it wanted to work.

I started redoing/cleaning up the wiring I've done over the years for my gauges. It has been added to/cut over time and was looking pretty bad, so time to get it straight.

Yeah it would be nice, I've been hearing about people having problems with many aftermarket axles though. I'm now jobless so I'd like to save some money where I can, and if I can get the new boot on and it lasts the rest of the time I own the car, I'll be happy. Plus not having a job, I have plenty of free time, so if I have to spend more time than most would, I don't mind.

X2

I would of just warranted the axle and spent $0

Warranted? It's an oem axle, I'd have to spend $50 is I was going to get a new axle.

gave it its yearly wash compound and wax with a PC.
