What did you do to your car today? Vol 2.0

Re: What did you do to your Car today? Vol 2.0

Drove the cruze back home and had 0 issues with it but its still going in tomorrow. Seen something online that it could be a bad ground or overheating battery cable. Meh who knows

Re: What did you do to your Car today? Vol 2.0

I've looked over repair stuff guys and it doesn't surprise me or scare me. You guys ever swap a 4.2L in an Envoy or Buick SUV? IIRC it pays 28 hours and you better hope a buddy is around to help as well. First thing in GM ESI is "remove oil drain plug and allow oil to drain, then replace with suitable replacement". You might ask yourself .. isn't the drain plug good enough? No it's not. You need the 3/8" that it hangs down to get the motor out. And you pull most of the nose off as well. Ever try to do a water pump on a Quad 4 motor? Yeah.. you are pulling that 10 foot chain and all the nonsense. Ford.. don't get me started, Dodge.....well you are gonna know how to replace transmissions lol.

I'm not saying that I'm not signing up for something different, I am. I talked a lot with Sven and a few others on the subject of an Audi. Guess what if you ever have to do a thermostat..it's below the supercharger. As for pulling the front clip, I'm told it takes very little time. There's a lot of cars that can be troublesome to work on.

Re: What did you do to your Car today? Vol 2.0

Front clips come off pretty fast.

I can remove a malibu bumper and those traverse/acadia bumpers in 10-15minutes max now when doing headlights.

Re: What did you do to your Car today? Vol 2.0

It's funny..the guys that work on cars seem to not be intimidated about it. :th_thumbsup-wink:

Re: What did you do to your Car today? Vol 2.0

I'm not saying I've worked on everything, but I've worked on a lot of cars. VW and Audi takes the candle in the PITA category by a LOT, followed by Volvo then Dodge. You've been warned, lol. Good luck.

Re: What did you do to your Car today? Vol 2.0

this is why i bought a brand new Rav.. any issues , bring it in.. problem solved. let them A holes deal with it.

Re: What did you do to your Car today? Vol 2.0

I changed the oil and filter. Took my usual Sunday two Hour Drive and ran into a Pontiac GP Super Charged. The owner was a nice guy.

Not in my opinion. That was a bunch of somewhat easy stuff, everything I've done on an Audi was just a *****. Not well thought out is the Nice way I'd put it.

Re: What did you do to your Car today? Vol 2.0

Wish I could learn how to do that. I want to do it to change out my fog Lights and put LEDS down there like my headlights.

Re: What did you do to your Car today? Vol 2.0

I feel like you're the only person who has ever been able to cause this

On an audi I worked on, in order to change the thermostat, you HAD to remove the timing belt. Which obviously includes removing the front clip. That's the first step in most of the repairs lol

Oh look, one of the first things I see on my facebook homepage

Re: What did you do to your Car today? Vol 2.0

ordered up 200 bucks worth of full engine gaskets, valve seals, head bolts, oil, filter, fuel filter, coolant, coolant elbows and some paint.

Re: What did you do to your Car today? Vol 2.0

I found a set of valve seals, and reusable rocker bolts on Friday. Along with a set of ER rockers, springs, retainers and another set of bolts.

Navy.. look at how accessible it all is when you pull that clip. There's some serious issues working on various cars and once you get used to it, it's not out of the ordinary. On the reluctor ... I'm not the only one. I have found a few other people that were capable as well.

Re: What did you do to your Car today? Vol 2.0

Speaking of PITA cars to work on . Jake.. wish to mention how cramped the GXP is and how little fun it is to work under the hood?

Re: What did you do to your Car today? Vol 2.0

I shot grass all over it yesterday and proceeded to not wash it off. Drive it to work this morning. Man I love my 2mi work drive.
