• The site migration is complete! Hopefully everything transferred properly from the multiple decades old software we were using before. If you notice any issues please let me know, thanks! Also, I'm still working on things like chatbox, etc so hopefully those will be working in the next week or two.

Top Swap Info and Faqs, Also lots of 3800 Info

you dont, its likely not a active code in your pcm, or a na one in general.

what you could do is find a gtp pcm of the same year as your car is. its a gp na right? and use that. it might toss a code for the bbv actuator or not. my regal didnt when i took it off mine for a while.

re use your maf if the donor engine's maf is not the same part#.

only issue with the gtp pcm is your vin wont match if you have inspection. and you need to do a security learn to make it crank and fire up. key to run 3 times for 10 minutes, off each time for less then 5 seconds. but a battery charger while you do this, and dont open the doors or power anything inside. radio, windows ect. turn that all off and dont use anything.

or call zzp and tell them your set up and give em your vin#. get a 1.0 if you plan to stay stock ish.

So, i got a little confused with the vac routing. Mainly because I was referencing this

I was confused because the write up said to connect the top of the BBV to the "tree" an the bottom should see atmosphere, but didn't mention anything about the SC bypass solenoid. Because of this I didn't know if i was suppose to run a line from the lower BBV nipple to the solenoid and have one of the nipples on the solenoid seeing atmosphere or if i should delete the solenoid and just have the bottom nipple on the BBV see atmosphere. After asking Snowth1ef I learned the the SC bypass solenoid should be deleted and that it is in fact the lower nipple on the BBV that must see atmosphere.

In order to possibly help others I modified the above diagram so that it showed the correct vac routing for a topswaped 3800

Right on

Looking to buy another scan gauge but I ordered 2 zzp pcm they played me on the black Friday sale stated starting of at 62.5 total was 236 after 10%discount gp pcm had a 75 fee for l67 engine and transmission map mc was straight forward no fees but it's all gud

thats a dead fuel pump, nothing shot out the sharader valve, it should hit the cars hood. id toss a tester gauge on it. to be sure.

Swapped out the fuel pump with a new one fuel shoots to the hood after depressurize but still same issue but car runs better can notice on acceleration with new pimp

OMG- amazing ! I am not going to be doing a TOPSWAP for the record. I began reading this thread bcuz it said all kinds of info for the 3800 s/c. I couldnt stop reading--until i finished all 22 pages. This was incredible. Now i need to find a thread that actally talks about my cars problem. I'm hoping I find will a discussion that has input from the author of this thread. I'm not an engine wizard or strong enough sometimes to perform car tasks but I love learning about my car and trying to do the maintenance. Thanks again for this thread.

if you dont find your issue post away asking never hurt. at least we know you looked first :th_thumbsup-wink:

I just did a top swap on my grand pri 05 GT, everything is working well, but I'm using a pcm SC and I can't use the TC, so in the cluster the TC OFF light turns on, any way the light doesn't turn on? My pcm is already programmed with Hptuners
