Another build day down. The IncREDi-hoopdy got a new windshield today, so that was good. The cylinder head got drilled and tapped for the upper engine mount. All of the accessories are installed minus the SC, which should be ready for assembly tomorrow. I started dissecting the trans part of the harness for rewiring. I somehow misplaced my O2 extension harness, so I'll have to make one. Typical stuff I guess.
The not so typical...I was poking around in the trunk and decided I really didn't like the look of my strut towers. My decision was to remove the rear strut, and drill out the spot welds on the plate underneath. Well, I took out the rear seat, removed the rear speaker tray, and embedded the 4" speaker about 1/8" under my left middle finger trying to remove the D/S rear seatbelt. After the nausea went away, I removed the rear strut and drilled out the spot welds.
Mind you, my strut tower was only bubbled...no visible pushing through of the rear strut.
Here is the rear plate removed.
So now my dad is going to plate that side while I disassemble the P/S so we can do the same there. Removing the plate is rather easy and as long as your struts aren't through the trunk, this is how I'd repair them from now on.
