The FWD Cobra: Just one more thing then the MG gets all the attention

Re: The FWD Cobra

I'm thinking about pulling the spring isolators to go a little lower. Should I?

thats what im missing up front and i fking hate it. spring is so damn loud on slow turns and any bigger bumps it makes me want to punchh a baby.

Re: The FWD Cobra

Edit:

Since the piston is pretty much gone although the car runs.

Should I:

throw a new piston in this motor as a bandaid since I have everything to do it and get an L32 later

or:

Borrow some money from the parents to do an L32 swap and pay them back

I pretty much over this car right now, I'm not doing anything else motor wise, where I'm at is fine. I'll just throw more suspension at it later since that's what I'm really enjoying right now.

I knew #3 was ****ed but I had no idea about #1. Still going to replace #3 and roll with #1, new motor in a month or so anyways. Been going like this for a year and a half till #3 chipped for a second time and my car was not happy at all.

Re: The FWD Cobra

Piston sway is a success, now I have a decent oil leak from the oil filter adapter where it mates to the block. Anyone have any ideas of how to fix that? I got all the old gasket off, that is a royal pain, some silicone + gasket?

I didn't realize until today when I was looking at piston #3 I was missing part of the top ring.

Re: The FWD Cobra

Picked up a L26 with 25k on it today. Should be in the car within a month. Plans are to stick with my current mods but a 4.2" pulley instead of a 3.6" for now.

Re: The FWD Cobra

Lack of some supporting mods. I'll get rockers later down the road and go smaller. This is to get the car completely healthy.

Re: The FWD Cobra

High compression...I'm going to be overly safe for a while. Can't afford to throw in another motor. Besides my normal commute to work is only like 10 min in traffic so there's no room for fun.

Re: The FWD Cobra

need to paint the pan silver, the oversprayed look just doesn't work well, oh and you missed a couple spots :p

Re: The FWD Cobra

It'll be a couple of weeks till it'll be in the car, I need to get off of my lazy ass and go get a set of heads. As for the oil pan and flywheel well I'll be using my L67 pan and as for the flywheel, you can't see that :D

Re: The FWD Cobra

XD, nice. Glad to see someone spray-bombing the engine like I just did.

Im also building up an L26, with an L67 top end. No idea what pulley Im going to start with though.

Also, why are you going to use the L67 oil-pan instead of the L26's?
