• The site migration is complete! Hopefully everything transferred properly from the multiple decades old software we were using before. If you notice any issues please let me know, thanks! Also, I'm still working on things like chatbox, etc so hopefully those will be working in the next week or two.

Taz's Offical Summer/Fall build list.

you could try to pressure test the cooling system. it's like a little bicycle pump with a gauge on it, build it up to 15psi and watch to see if it holds pressure. if you really had it running for almost an hour and it was leaking, you probably would have spun a bearing by the end of it. also could be any assembly lube you used putting it together. change the oil regardless, and if you have some extra cash, take it to a shop for an engine flush. its what we do after all the 3800 lim gasket jobs lol

what dealer are you working at? and where can I find one of them pumps?

Yeah Cole I'd say it's possible when you pulled the LIM that some went in the motor. You should have done new oil and filter before starting it even. And then let it run a few minutes and done it again. Hell letting it run for damn near an hour with coolant is not teh good. Spun bearings are not fun, especially when they leave you on the side of I-40 at 9pm :(

Hmm. Idk. When I done it, I changed the filter too. But idk what to tell you. I'm very OCD with my car so maybe it's all in mah head.

I should have changed the filter... I'll buy a couple cheap filters normal oil, and sea foam then change it acouple times and see what it does then

Mk.

And btw, don't feel bad about not plugging the alternator back in. I've done that before. Forgot to bolt on the cable AND plug the sensor back in lolz.

I'll have to go pick one up. The way I see it the worse case is that I have to replace the lim gaskets because if it was the head gaskets it would just hydro lock or go out the exhaust correct?

yeah, it would be tough for coolant to get past the rings. but not impossible. if you followed your torque specs and sequences for the heads, there shouldn't be any reason short of a cracked head for a leak there. i'd figure it out before too much more run time though, or your bottom end is gonna be toast. if you're that worried, price out engine flushes. shouldn't be too much.

I'd pressure test it first the gaskets might be fine and you just had a little bit of coolant get into the oil. Plus if you buy the tool you'll have it laying around for the next time you need it.

the thing is work has been nuts lately been working doubles everyday for over 2 weeks which is awesome because I got all this cash for my car but no ****ing time to even pop the hood I'm going to try and work on it a little tomorrow morning if it fails the pressure test I can get all the gaskets I need at a parts place but it will cost a little more... the main thing is if its leaking wtf did I do wrong the first time... odds are I'll mess the same thing up again

If you need a hand on it sometime i could help. I'm sure the wife would love to get some time away from me lol

if you want to help out on it sometime idk if you want to help tommorrow morning cause I got to go in at 4 and Id really like to take it to get tuned on wed

I have to work tom and wed. If you need a hand sometime and i don't have to work i'd be happy to help you out.

maybe just left a bolt loose. iirc the intake bolts are torque to yield and should be replaced, not that i've ever seen anybody do it. i feel you on the no time man, i'm in the middle of working for 13 straight days. this thing was supposed to be done months ago

i've been told to sell mine multiple times lol. not my fault the oil pan and tranny pan is leaking, it's 12 years old and i didn't touch them when i built it

so I rented that tool and if its leaking its leaking really slow cause its been sitting right at 15psi for like 5 mins now going to check it again here real soon
