Subway's GT: Time to close my legs, it smells everywhere

Re: Subway's GT: Big Plans

I haven't checked it since like last winter lol. It used to make a whine sort of noise while turning, so I checked and saw it was low. So I added some and it got a lot better. What do you think is leaking, or where it's coming from?

Re: Subway's GT: Big Plans

I will never be able to smile and never worry about my car until everything is flawless, which will never happen.

Re: Subway's GT: Big Plans

This is more than likely my noise culprit here. Tons of play in the hood. I'm gonna try raising the bump stops up so it can't move. But my passenger side broke so it sits lower. I will need a new one.

You can also see that the fender won't allow the hood to sit all the way down, so I will need to pull that out more too.

Re: Subway's GT: Big Plans

I would check the hood striker to be sure its not loose, and also the hood latch and it's vertical support. You could have a safety issue. But yeah I bet thats noisy.

It makes a lot of clatter going down the road. What specifically would I look for within the hood latch?

And what's a hood striker?

Re: Subway's GT: Big Plans

You would look for witness marks around the latch bolts, to see if there has been movement. Hood striker is what the latch grabs.

I will look at the hood latch for any signs of tampering/movement. Thanks for the insight!

Re: Subway's GT: Big Plans

Hey, my hood does the same thing. I slam 'er good, or knee it after-the-faact and she seems to stay down... lol.

Wonder if those hood latches ever wear out?

Re: Subway's GT: Big Plans

I had to slam the **** out of mine to get it to latch when I got it, I just soaked it in PB Blaster 2 or 3 times and moved the latch back and forth by hand until it moved without any resistance. I raised the bump stops to cure the rattling, haven't had a problem yet

My friend snagged me new bump stops so I will put those in tomorrow and raise them up. Taking the car down to the auto body place to see how much it is to fix my fender.

Re: Subway's GT: Big Plans

So took the center console bezel off to look inside of everything. Found more sources of rattling.

So form inside of there, I found these:

(Not sure why in the hell there are gas relief pills in there. Not even sure how they got is there. Cup holder had to be positioned just right for them to slip down)

And then these two spring type clips. Not sure what they went to. Oh and another panel trim clip. Couldn't figure out where it went though, so I held onto it.
