So im getting ready to do a top swap, any advice?

Re: So im getting ready to do an engine swap, any advice?

Well the L67, PCM and TOG headers are on the way and I got an engine stand waiting. I have a new gasket kit and arp studs ordered and have to buy new belts, plugs, Fuel pressure regulator and wires. I would like to thank Kevin Ross for helping me with the parts for the engine swap couldnt find a better reason to be a member of a site like this than people like him. I have to get the pcm sent off and I am going to have the blower ported before I put it together to put it in the car. Question is should I remove the old engine from the bottom or should I pull it out the top? I have contemplated both but dont know which one would be the path of least resistance. I plan on istalling the headers while the engine is on the stand. I have also thought of dropping the short block in topside then putting the headers on while assembling the top end, those who have experiance doing this please chim in and let me know what you think!

with my top swap i ran a 14.1 in a 1/4 mile at 102...also i couldnt hook up worth ****...not running full boost...13* of timing which sucks but still got 0 KR...getting a tune when winters over....and my bro's got a GTP...i blow him away...and my car feels like it pulls hardest after i reach 110mph...not even kidding...but its only good up to about 135 then i have to let off of it to shift into 4th while my bro's will go 147 in his 3rd gear!! but now i have a VS cam...doing a HD Differential upgrade and getting 42lb injectors...and a much needed tune...should be good to go once april comes around!!!

I have also gone way past a top swap since i posted this thread lolol. I now have a full L67 swap, intense tuned pcm, tog headers w 3 inch catless dp, prj wires, ported blower w 3.4 pulley and a full slp ram air intake with the hood to come.

in all honesty...i wish i would've gone turbo over the top swap now that its all said and done!!...my advice to anyone thinkin about a top swap is to ditch the plan and go turbo!!..but i do like the supercharger whine :) and yes matt i'm running very rich as well!!...in dire need of a tune!!...that's why its parked for the winter!!

I have no bones with you closing it but bio has a point if this thread can help somone who had the same questions I did when I was going to do a swap that would be awsome. Thanks so much for all your input on this subject. The only reason I didn't swap is I found a killer deal on an entire engine.
