Also, I'm still working on things like chatbox, etc so hopefully those will be working in the next week or two.

So im getting ready to do a top swap, any advice?

If you're doing that.

At least a cam should be going in there as well.

MSD coils are worse than stock FYI. Wires are good though.

i highly doubt it, more like a few more if not the same as a stock gtp
no he will have more than a stock gtp. and headers on these cars net at least a 20whp gain. i believe it was done on a stock bonneville and the headers mod made 29ish whp. if youre running the same power on a top swap as a gtp then youre doin something wrong

i've never driven a GTP, but my top swap with headers and 3.29's from the factory.... its not exactly what I'd call "quick" so either stock GTP's are dogs or my car is messed up.

id say theyre dogs in the top end given the wide gearing. but hes doin a top swap with headers as well as a few other mods. if hes a good tuner he should be close to 275-280ish chp.

Matt, about the trany, is the gear ratio differential 3.29 (for some GTP's)? I thought mine (2000 XAB) was 2.93. Could there be something in the sprockets that is different? I drove a 1983 Cutlass Supreme before I had my GTP. That ride felt like a dog compared to this ride so that could be why my GTP seems fast, I guess.

The only GTP's to get 3.29's were the CompG's. Matt like myself has a supercharged GT. Gt's had 3.29's

Oh, ok. Got it. But could that significantly change the driving experience for a Top Swapped GT from the GTP? Could the gear ratio differential make (that much of) a difference?

Edited: Sorry may be off topic.

Theres a thread by someone with an orange VS cammed car who went from stock 2.93's to 3.29's TEP style. Claims there was a huge difference.

I am not doing a top swap any more and am doing an L67 full engine swap so I will basically be set up like a Comp G with headers and a tune right? I am not going to waste my money on the cps cause everyone says they are junk but now I can also go to a smaller pully on a l67 motor so I will be looking for a smaller one before I send the pcm for the tune. I am also adding pacesetter ceramic coated headers, msd wires, cai.

3.4" pulley, the right plugs ( AL 104's), 180 Tstat (because thats what all the mail order tunes are setup for), and a 3800 perf PCM along with those headers would be awesome.

Cam depends on what sort of power you want.

VS is a good DD cam, can be improved with 1.7 RR's but you need to port your heads for the rockers to be worth your time.

S1X is more top end than the VS.

XP is even more top end.

And that just about does it for cams that will make power with stock heads.

porting the heads wont be a problem but the rrs are pretty expensive arnt they? I am going to have the engine on a stand building it and I will take my time and have it ready to pop in with the headers and all before I actually do this but if a cam is going to make it unreliable i wont mess with it. As far as the pcm all I have to do is send it in for to the vendor that youfwd to me with a list of the mods I have right?

yeah but if its cammed you need a street tune.

Cam would affect reliability if it was done incorrectly and/or your engine already had bearing issues.... the added power would probably bring it to its death sooner.

You would expect Slower trap speeds but faster 1/4 mile times going from 2.93 to 3.29's

you have to understand, you have to have h/c/i or any combo of the listed or nearly maxing out the m90 to take advantage of high compression. But simply an l36 with a m90 top end, you NEED the headers as a breathing mod, then expect to run low to mid 14's at 9x.xx mph

My next mod is L32

I will run it at the local drag strip to let you guys know what it pulls as soon as the build is done. I also have a dyno about ten minutes up the road from me so I might take it there. Porting the supercharger sounds very tempting to me and I think I might do it if the price is right. Anyone know a ballpark figure on getting this done?
