Shift kit

I'm helping someone put in a shift kit tomorrow. Any last minute things I should be aware of? I've looked up tutorials and stuff. Looks easy enough. I'm just wondering. Thanks.

Car is a 2001 Bonneville SE. 2.93 gearing? I think.

Thanks.

Nothing too much to it.Ive done 2 shift kits so far and its easy enough.Unbolt tranny pan, remove old filter, unbolt accumalator housing, unbolt it open, and add shift kit parts as directed. Then from there reverse order putting everything back together.Refill with fluid once its all good.I would add a full 8qts and be done.Anymore questions get at me bro.

He'll be taking the accumulator off and the pan will drip for a longer time, that should add right up to 8 quarts.

And that bonneville either has 3.29's or 3.05 gearing.

2.93 was strictly HD trans, aka stupercharged cars.

Well the install went great. Up shifts aren't all the much better, but down shifts are awesome. So much tighter.

How firm is firm? The transgo upped the firmness a good bit from stock but not enough to be uncomfortable. I don't want bang screech. Haha

It's kinda rough if your not on it but i have upped line pressures in my tune too so that probably makes a difference.

Ahh. Well, I'll think about it. My commute is mostly city driving with constant 1-2 shifts. Might get a little annoying after a while lol.

if i dont have perf shift on, mine shifts really close to stock, with perf shift on, and getting on it it just pulls into the next gear nice and fast, and firm. no chirp. ( i am stock)

if you just take off and hold light gas, so it will run up to 3,000 rpm, and let it shifts on its own, its also nice and firm. i like it, feels tight, much better then a stock trans.

just going light to light, and driving well, normal, you wont know its there really.

NA Bonneville will either have 2.86 or 3.05's. 3.29 was never an option in the H/C/G body cars. Not that it matters, all the 4T65E trans shift kits fit all the gear ratios.
