RussDinoGuy's 02 GT "Slowkar" Less Slow Now

Re: RussDinoGuy's 02 GT "Slowkar" (NOW WITH LESS BROKEN THANGS)

It is, now only if these roads were adequate. I also took some twisties today and holy crap the car actually doesn't feel like im driving on pudding anymore and evasive driving from like deer jumping out isnt scary. Im so happy now, plus i tried out the brakes because it dried up. And i started too black a little out they stopped so good lmao.

Re: RussDinoGuy's 02 GT "Slowkar" (NOW WITH LESS BROKEN THANGS)

Well, I'm starting to get some killer reverse rake. Rears are settling now so I had too adjust my light down some ever so slightly, now if only the fronts would do the same...still can't get over how awesome it rides and stops haha.

Now too plan out my next thing too fix, I need to get another LIM and do the LIM gaskets and lower mounts sometime which I'm probably going too take a trip too Ohio and get some help from smuts if I can ever get a weekend off. Also need too flush this aweful mix of coolant I have, its like dex with green and yellow its knarly. Thats all for now, I'm always looking for a cheap downpipe for 75 bucks or less which probably will take a bit before I find one unless ace sells me all his stuff.....

Re: RussDinoGuy's 02 GT "Slowkar" (NOW WITH LESS BROKEN THANGS)

Well for the first time in a long time i washed it twice, and cleaned the inside. So here are some pictars, i need a new front bumper pretty bad and to get some compoud and use my DA polisher from HF. Otherwise not too bad.

Re: RussDinoGuy's 02 GT "Slowkar" (NOW WITH LESS BROKEN THANGS)

you have clear coat lifting man.... but other than that its looking good

Re: RussDinoGuy's 02 GT "Slowkar" (NOW WITH LESS BROKEN THANGS)

The clear is the least of my issues haha.
My Black 02 had the identical clearcoat issues on the bumper, patch on each side that was like the same shape as the headlight capsule.

Re: RussDinoGuy's 02 GT "Slowkar" (NOW WITH LESS BROKEN THANGS)

Looks like a tight ship, worth keeping nice. Barkeeper's Friend is perfect for certain things, its a help in prepping blend panels for paint. Speaking of, I still say make those clear peel spots black and they'll stand out less. Dirt road every trip must make keeping it presentable a challenge! Now man up on that fuel door lol. Its tough to realign those much without damage, they are so flimsy.

Re: RussDinoGuy's 02 GT "Slowkar" (NOW WITH LESS BROKEN THANGS)

I'd rather not be low while living on these roads, but I have bad news. Pretty sure the LF hub is ****ered, I get a low speed squeaking that doesn't go away with braking. Took a screwdriver and listened to stuff while I moved the wheel and i put it right on the back of the hub and heard noise but anywhere else like the knuckle, caliper, bracket, pad its got no noise or very faint its weird, also I have no play in the wheels so I'm assuming I caught it before it got too bad. So I'm pretty sure I need to get another one. Probably going to pick a timkin from advanced or amazon.

Here is the squeak

Re: RussDinoGuy's 02 GT "Slowkar" (NOW WITH LESS BROKEN THANGS)

I'd say take the brakes off then spin the hub just to make sure sand or something isn't stuck between the pad and rotor, making the noise. My old hub made an odd noise too, no play in it either. Sounded like the worlds smallest violin and made the noise the first 5 feet of driving backwards, and on turns. It was really odd but glad its gone, I didn't hear it much on the road, but go in a parking garage and it echoes off all the walls lol. People would look all the time.

Re: RussDinoGuy's 02 GT "Slowkar" (NOW WITH LESS BROKEN THANGS)

Yeah i planned on ripping it apart before ordering one, it did this before my brakes so I really dont think its them but its free to check lol. I wish i would have just bought one when while I had the front suspension torn apart, originally i was going to check all the hubs spinning them but forgot. I also determined my clunk in the front to be subframe bushings but I'm going to make sure all the bolts are tight. Oh well a timkin is only like 91 bucks on rockauto and i probably can have it done in about an hour. But I thought of taking a gamble with the cheapo Detriot Axle ones but I'm sure I wanna screw with having to do it again if they fail. Good thing I got a bunch of money this weekend. 240 for my wheels and 200 from my mom for selling her car.

Re: RussDinoGuy's 02 GT "Slowkar" (NOW WITH LESS BROKEN THANGS)

new pads and rotors run very tight for a while. drive it for a week, i bet it stops.

Re: RussDinoGuy's 02 GT "Slowkar" (NOW WITH LESS BROKEN THANGS)

The TA is gone? Good man, now come get the '72 one out of my hair at the shop! JK. Man I never had one squeal like that but dang it sounds like something's cutting a groove don't it? I mean if metal is making that sound then hells yea you caught it just in time. I bet it would be loosey goosey soon. Its not something going on with the boot is it? Just askin, can't stick my head in a video lol. Murphy's Law timing on this since yea just did brakes.

Re: RussDinoGuy's 02 GT "Slowkar" (NOW WITH LESS BROKEN THANGS)

When it's in the air the little clip holding the ABS wire is on the boot BUT not when its on the ground, I moved it off the boot and it still makes the same sound. But it did do this before my brakes and when listening with a screw driver the sound is coming from the hub I had it right below where the axle goes in next too the plastic ring for the speed sensor i think it is. When I had it on the caliper, pad, bracket I only heard the slightly sound of the pad dragging ever so slightly. Noise doesn't go away with braking either. But again I'll make sure to check it out before buying stuffs.

But yeah Matt the T/A is gone, sold it to some guy in Illinois for $8000 with bad BCM and clutch showing some issues and bad window motor and minor other issues radio display out, dirty. Moms really happy because she needed the money, she has been getting shorted hours and was getting behind on some bills. I'm glad if this is one failing its making noise, when my last one failed it made hardly any noise and had a good amount of play in it before I caught it trying to chase down tire wobble issues.
