• The site migration is complete! Hopefully everything transferred properly from the multiple decades old software we were using before. If you notice any issues please let me know, thanks! Also, I'm still working on things like chatbox, etc so hopefully those will be working in the next week or two.

Riddle me this.

Ok, this is the second time I've raced my club buddy. I'm so confused lol.

First time I raced him it was 4 in da morn. I was tired, he was tired. Late launches but he won. My Car was midly modded, downpipe exhaust plog CAI. He drives a "presumably stock"' 04 gtp.

Fast forward to day before yesterday. Around three in the morn. We punch it from a 40 roll. He instantly jumps ahead. I slowly creep up on him but no cigar. This time I had my reptile tuned PCM installed. Im starting to think he's modded but he's keeping it a secret. Next week I'll have my 3.4 mps installed so we will go at it again. But answer me this, it's the 04 that fast? Or do I suck as a driver? All tips appreciated lol.

Maybe. The only way to tell is by racing. If you drop to the 3.4 with just the plog/dp, and start seeing knock, you'll end up being slower.

stock for stock the 04 has 20hp on you, and its possible he has a comp G with 3.29 gears, and did he tell you it was stock or are you guessing, and also you should get someone to scan your car an make sure your not seeing kr from that pulley drop

are you starting off in the right gear?
granted...he has more power and torque than you.
but his car weighs a tad more.
just go run him once you get the pulley on.

Those two factors is probably whats slowing you down.Ive seen many stock vs stock 97-03 against 04+ GTPs and its always very close barely a car length on either. So go get 16in rims, and lose the subs and you should pull a lil more on him. Then again he may be lightly modded like you.

from a 40 you wanna put the car in "2" and then as soon as you punch it, put it up to D and let the auto do the work.
if youre leaving it in D then you have to wait for the downshift, and a two gear downshift to WOT isnt the best for the trans lol.
also im guessing its the subs that are really giving you some weight transfer issues. besides the FWD, lol.
take out spare tire/jack and other things in the trunk. put them in after the race.
also it depends on what 18's you have. just because they are bigger dont mean they are way heavier. in some cases, they can be lighter than our torque stars.

So many things to factor in for a drag race, not just mash and go.. get rid of the subs and rims, pump up the back tires to 35-40 psi, put the front tires to 28'sh, and put the passenger seat all the way to the front for more weight up front, if you can move your driver seat up without losing comfort do that also.
good luck.

Don't race from a 40 roll... Go from a 30 roll.

Yea... If you go from a steady 40 roll you are at the bottom of your gear... If you go from a 30 you are at the top of your gear. At 30 you can spin the SC faster right away, and get the cars momentum going in the right direction before you shift to second... Try it once and tell me you don't just FEEL faster...
