• The site migration is complete! Hopefully everything transferred properly from the multiple decades old software we were using before. If you notice any issues please let me know, thanks! Also, I'm still working on things like chatbox, etc so hopefully those will be working in the next week or two.

Riddle me this.

Also if he has the comp and any mods like yourself those 3.29 will give him a greater advantage if im not mistaking. I doubt he is stock if your personally tuned and plog , cai . How were you racing did you just stab it on the 40 or did you do what was suggested above?

Yea... If you go from a steady 40 roll you are at the bottom of your gear... If you go from a 30 you are at the top of your gear. At 30 you can spin the SC faster right away, and get the cars momentum going in the right direction before you shift to second... Try it once and tell me you don't just FEEL faster...

Not with a tune dumbdumb :)

A tuned PCM with with the skip shifts put 40 mph back in 1st gear.

But go from a 35~

Floor it on the 2nd honk too, because by the third honk, and the time it takes you to downshift yer stock trans....it'll be the third honk.

from a 40 you wanna put the car in "2" and then as soon as you punch it, put it up to D and let the auto do the work.
if youre leaving it in D then you have to wait for the downshift, and a two gear downshift to WOT isnt the best for the trans lol.
also im guessing its the subs that are really giving you some weight transfer issues. besides the FWD, lol.
take out spare tire/jack and other things in the trunk. put them in after the race.
also it depends on what 18's you have. just because they are bigger dont mean they are way heavier. in some cases, they can be lighter than our torque stars.

16"s will almost always be "lighter" do to the fact that the majority of the weight is closer to the rotating axis. There is some math to it, long story short, a 16" wheel requires less torque to turn when compared to an 18" wheel of the same weight.

...run the 16's!!!

Ok I'll put my torque stars back on. Why put the car in 1st?

run the car in 1st if you're doing the 30 roll. you will then be at the top of first rather than the bottom of second gear, giving you a higher rpm which leads to more torque/hp and better rolling launch. with your mods, you should be able to chirp the tires pretty easily from a 30 roll if you do it right.

good luck, sir!

Just race from the dig bro... Downshifting is alot of stress on these trannys. Learn how to launch these cars would give you far better results rather than just smashing gas.

Ok, so give me some launch techniques. I'm open to all ideas. Rather not abuse my trans. It's only got 6000 miles on it but I still want keep fresh.

Line-up, turn off Traction Control and push Performance Shift Button so you're in Perf Mode. Drop out of drive to 2nd and only shift to 3rd when needed (assuming 1/4 mile race, you likely won't get out of 3rd, and WOT in 4th is a no-no). Stall to 2500-2700, and on go roll into throttle. Never just floor it unless you want to lose and smoke the tires, but practice will help learn what the tires and drive-train can handle and how quickly to roll to get the fastest time. If you do this at a track remember you want to start go'ing on the 3rd yellow, if you wait to green your already late to launch.

PS:
Rather not abuse my trans. It's only got 6000 miles on it but I still want keep fresh.

If you don't want to abuse the tranny, you don't want to race. Just DD it. Racing is the worst, there is no easy way unless you plan to race Prius' or Smart cars, you just gotta go and hope **** don't break on you.

what's with you guys and moving the shifter? leave the ****ing thing in drive.

BECAUSE RACEKAR!!!

At the track i avoid the water thats used to heat up the tires. I also ease onto the throttle about 60% when launching off the line for about 2 sec than wot. Smashing it from the launch unless you got some slicks will give you the type of wheel spin that makes our stock 14.7 - 14.9 stock cars run 15's. You dont want to be that guy lol
