Red 2006 Grand Prix GT Supercharged

Re: Red 2006 Grand Prix GT Supercharged - FSIC & Coilovers Coming Soon!

Haha yeah I thought about that, I'll do the brake cleaner tomorrow n chase it definitely. The sooner the better. I wanna make some pulls lol.

Re: Red 2006 Grand Prix GT Supercharged - FSIC & Coilovers Coming Soon!

I wouldn't let a minor vacuum leak stop me from doing some pulls. Just make sure you find it relatively soon.

I wanted the loctite to cure before I did any. Don't want to have anymore fuel leaks. Pretty happy with everything tho, n wish I painted the sc.

Re: Red 2006 Grand Prix GT Supercharged - FSIC & Coilovers Coming Soon!

I used the green Garlock gaskets with this copper rtv spray. Did 2-3 coats and thick around the ports. Worked really well, my buddy recommended it n said he always does it that way. I was skeptical but all seems well.

:th_doh:

tear it down and pull that **** out!... RTV only! like others have said i wouldnt be surprised if thats where your vac leak is coming from... also while your tearing it down again.. change the clear tubes to black heater hose... cause trust me it looks cool now but in about 2-3 months they will turn a brownish color from the engine heat. ask me how i know lol

Re: Red 2006 Grand Prix GT Supercharged - FSIC & Coilovers Coming Soon!

If it is that then I will have to unfortunately n be pretty upset lol. At least it will be easier this time around. Also, when it does turn brown, I'll fix the routing as well to something better. Just glad it's on

Re: Red 2006 Grand Prix GT Supercharged - FSIC & Coilovers Coming Soon!

just giving you a hard time lol... but ya i wish i would have used the heater hose cause it looks like poop now... i am going to do a tear down this summer and fix/update alot of stuff so i will be switching it out then

..also you need to get a reservoir eventually to add to the system.. it will allow for more fluid and also purge the system better then the fill tube..

and also also is it still really cold there? cause i would have done just straight distilled water if its getting warm up there

Re: Red 2006 Grand Prix GT Supercharged - FSIC & Coilovers Coming Soon!

Haha yeah for sure. N to your previous comment about the resivoir, I'd like to but there's absolutely no room in the engine bay for one. I have a wiz air I'm putting in so it can't go fit in that corner.

Re: Red 2006 Grand Prix GT Supercharged - FSIC & Coilovers Coming Soon!

oh ya it wont fit if you have a Wiz air going in

Move battery to trunk clear some space up

I have a small reservoir a buddy of mine made mounted on the left of the engine bay, just below the strut tower. Pics when I get a chance...

.... wait is that a feed line from the reservoir to your IC core? That is not the ideal set up if it is... think about it your sending the fluid that's already heat soaked from the IC core to the heat exchanger... but then back to the reservoir.. which is heat soaked as well.. the fluid isnt going to have enough time to cool the way you have it set up..so your pumping in warm fluid

I ordered some coilover covers a week or so ago n got them the other day, they're 14 inches and fit perfect! They were bought from overseas and only $48 bucks shipped for a set of 4. I couldn't find anything nearly that cheap over here. They're a nice neoprene with strong Velcro and came with plenty of zip ties.

Lmao, sooner or later they'll be on. I still need a sway bar n a helper spring then it'll be complete......and still not on the car haha

Re: Red 2006 Grand Prix GT Supercharged - FSIC Installed!

Better question is when are the rockers going on the car?

Not sure yet, I wanna work out the kinks with this real quick, then maybe when it gets a little warmer out n I can do it in the driveway. It sucks filling the car up with tools n borrowing a heater n worrying if my gmas gonna get mad cuz she can't park in the garage lol.

Re: Red 2006 Grand Prix GT Supercharged - FSIC Installed!

So I did a little bit today, I was having a small leak somewhere in the hoses. I went thru and tightened up the hose clamps and fittings more, nothing as of yet so hopefully that's taken care of. Also, I used brake cleaner, and then I went n picked up starting fluid as well and I sprayed everything with it while running, it didn't bog or rpms didn't seem to go up from anywhere. I'm at a loss, only other thing is to spray and have someone watch the ltft gauge. Now will it go up or down when it hits? I also took the "t" off and rtv and electrical taped it up. So it sealed pretty well n didn't get anything when I sprayed there.
Also, I took off my reverse bar and wetsanded it down, taped off the rectangle boxes, resprayed with the vht, then took the tape off and cleared it all. It turned out good and hopefully I can see at night now reversing lol.

If anyone has any opinions on what to do about the vacuum leak or ltft's let me know please!
also, here's a video of cruising at 35-45 mph n looking at the gauges. When the ltft spikes to 14, that was just cruising with no gas. So idk what's up with it.

Like them all you want because they will eventually turn a nasty brown color :)
