Radio Reception and Window Tint.

Maybe its just my imagination but it seems ever since I got my windows tinted, my radio reception isnt as good. I can still hear it just fine, but it seems to be slightly weaker than it was before. I know the antenna is in the back glass and they tinted over it, so does tint affect anyone elses radio reception?

Im not blaming the tint, Im blaming the idiot who decided to put the antenna in the back glass...

your either going crazy, driving different routes, or your head units tuner is taking a dump. I could never imagine tint to effect reception

window tint does have an effect on AM radio reception, but not on our cars. Some new cars have some crazy special antenna that requires a slightly more expensive tint film in order to not affect the reception. either that or my tint guy is a scam artist, but i'm pretty sure he's not since he only put the expensive tint on my mom's BMW.

I had this discussion with my tintmeister, and used ceramic stuff to ensure radar detector, cb, etc. would not be affected.

On another odd note, after putting new tires (Dunlop SP60s, replacing ContiExtremeContacts) on wife's car (outside mast antenna), radio interference declined considerably.

never heard of tint affecting that but I do notice on my car the reception is not as strong as my previous car. I have not tint, is there anything I should check for reception. I pull my head unit the other day and all looked good, I was only checking for connections tho.

I wouldnt think the tint would affect the reception since the tint is installed on the interior of the car's rear window.

actually the antenna on the back glass was a decent idea to me. since not having an antenna on the hood is awesome!

when I was a kid, it snowed and my moms new grand am's antenna had iced up. So I pulled it back alittle to watch it wiggle and fling.... needless to say, it only snapped in two! :th_sign-omg:

update! I just found out tint can have an effect, not because of the tint itself but if your tinter trimmed the tint on the inside of the window he could of cut the antenna, making it obviously not work right. I knew you could do this with the defroster but guess i didn't think about the antenna being basically the same. Something to keep in mind

Well the tint on my rear window still looks like crap, bubbles and hair everywhere in it. I wouldnt be surprised if he knicked a little bit of the antenna....

Spray on tint? May cost >9000 more but it sure a **** won't peel and bubble.

Also, other than news, (traffic and weather as well) what is there to listen to on the radio?

Ive seen tint affect radio reception. Also if you turn the rear defroster on and your reception goes down you need a new rear window.
