• The site migration is complete! Hopefully everything transferred properly from the multiple decades old software we were using before. If you notice any issues please let me know, thanks! Also, I'm still working on things like chatbox, etc so hopefully those will be working in the next week or two.

phil's build thread... back from the dead yet again

this doesn't sound like any normal lope i've ever heard is what i'm concerned about. at idle, especially after it starts getting warm, the rpms will fluctuate from 600rpms to around 1700rpms. i know it's a big cam and all, but that's a huge jump, and it takes awhile to even out once it comes off of idle. and i still do get dead misfires at cruising speed. idk, maybe i'm just being too paranoid. it was simple to put into time, i even had the heads off and saw cylinder 1 at TDC.

that sounds like a vacuum leak or an exhaust leak.

thats what I thought vaccum leak mine did the same thing his was I looked all over for a leak and couldn't find one turns out the map sensor was broken and thats were the leak was have you checked there yet?

lol, philly.

It's not a big cam, you crack me up :)

big enough i had to upgrade the valve train and go with a stronger timing chain lol.

i'm leaning towards vac leak too. the vac line going to the map sensor is fine. the egr part going into the lim is fine. i guess the one going into the header could be dicked up and getting fresh air though the egr valve and leaning it out really bad. looks like i need to get the carb cleaner out

yeah... probably. not like this car will ever be a DD again. remove valve, block off openings, and tune out?

destroying the environment, one w-body at a time lol. it needs to be summer so i can go work on this POS some more. below freezing and no light would make me a very irritated man.

heater, yeah. kinda short on the lights though lol. plus i need a radiator still. and other stuff. it's not gonna get too far with low oil, a leaking radiator, no trans fluid, a dead battery, and a flat tire... fml.

anyways, i went out to look at the wiring harness going to the ICM. two yellow wires were spliced together and covered in electrical tape. it looked factory (or at least like it's been there for years, the tape flaked off) and i think i put a ground wire in the wrong spot. it came off the stud coming out of the head, but i put it between the strut tower brace and the body. it comes from the ICM connector harness and went to ground, it's not like it could be much else. i could probably start there. also, part of the plastic covering the mass of wires made contact with the header at some point. none of the wires were melted, but they could be damaged i suppose.

i'm off work man, if you wanna drive over here. i even found a schematic for the ICM and the splices are factory and i do have the ground in the wrong spot. so if it's not making a good ground, it could definitely be messing stuff up. i could pick up some kerosene while i'm out and do work

alright man, sweet deal. thanks a ton for this, with a little luck this car might be a little closer to roadworthy
