The site migration is complete! Hopefully everything transferred properly from the multiple decades old software we were using before. If you notice any issues please let me know, thanks! Also, I'm still working on things like chatbox, etc so hopefully those will be working in the next week or two.
well a friend and i went down to the track today and were greeted by one of paulding county's finest... after a nice patdown and a search of the cars he let us go though. he also told us the owners are about to close it up(gates/locks etc.) soo if this does happen we will have to get permission. and since this kinda fizzled out before i want to see who is still interested before i track them down and everything.
ha...i had originally planned to make an appt. with TDC to get my PCM tuned the weekend that i would head out that way so that it would for sure be a worth while trip...but i'm going to wait to get my PCM until they come out with the 07 software. i'd really rather not have my gas gauge backwards .
I know a long time has passed... but I signed up to tell you all that the entrance is still opened. I don't know who the owners are it but if they were truly concerned they would have blocked it off by now. Those are my thoughts anyway. But if anyone know anymore details please share them. Thanks
Not sure how I missed this, but that is the old Dallas Dragstrip, owned by the (Charles) Hardy family. Not sure the status, but a few years back there was a lot of backlash from housing developments about noise, etc that eventually played a role in the closure.
Really do you know him? Do you think he would mind if we used it? I would sign a waver and everything. People use it anyway... Cops always hide in there though. It has some off roading dirt paths that are cool. I own a Jeep so I wouldn't do much drag racing anyway.
The place has been shut down since late '05 IIRC. You'd just have to try to find some family at one of the Hardy Dealerships and start from there...It is the Holiday season, and as said by the Hardy's themselves, "We love ya nd we need ya".
Also just a little note... if anyone does go, there is a 5 foot deep pot hole that you will not see in the dark. It's not on the drag-strip itself, but its on the loop leading to the start of the strip. Hug the right side of the loop and you will be fine there is plenty of room. Its about the size of a manhole cover and about 6 feet deep...
I know Im bringing this thread back from the dead but Im just so excited theres other GPs so close to me. Since this was so long ago we should have a meet sometime at the nearest drag strip or something. I recently moved here so it would be nice to meet some new people. Ill make a new post just for this.
