Oil leak

Car is still idling on its own.

Vacuum is reading between 13.7 lowest and 18.7 in/Hg

Car finally died. Started breathing really loud and vscuum dropped down below 5 in/Hg and then slowly died. But ran on its own for a good 12+ minutes

check the fuse box for a blown fuse. it powers both of those sensors.

Sorry Scotty I didn't see your post. Do you happen to know which fuse? I've got this code before but all the fuses I checked were fine but I also may not have checked the fuse that runs the MAF and 02 sensors.

Also, it would kind of make sense for the MAF code to trip since I was running with it unplugged, but the 02 sensor shouldn't be giving me a code unless its bad. I have another 02 sensor from my other rear exhaust manifold. They look slightly different. I may try that out too if this sensor doesn't start working

#26 iirc. inside the car fuse box.

maf unplugged will throw the maf code. the o2 maybe bad, or its wires are damaged. if the wires look good, the fuse is good, then swap the o2.

Alright. Sounds like a plan! I'm out of town tomorrow and work Sunday so either early Sunday morning or Sunday afternoon I may be able to check things out

Heres a question.

What would happen if a bank 2 oxygen sensor was in bank 1's spot?
Would it read anything?

And Scotty, I'm about to go outside right now and check my #26 fuse.

I'm fairly sure the part that plugs into the exhaust is different, but I think I have a downstream 02 in my upstream slot... I think this because of the picture of the upstream vs the picture of the downstream plugs on the Autozone webpage. Also, I pulled one out of the rear exhaust manifold from one of my 2 engines and it was a longish white looking thing that went into the exhaust, kinda looked like a new LED light thing. And the 02 from my other exhaust manifold was shorter and fatter and had little angled slits in it. I'll nab a pic of the second one.

Also, the fuses inside the car aren't numbered?

02 from second exhaust manifold.

theres different styles. i pulled this up stream o2 out of my manifold, its from 02 or older ive found out, they stopped making it years ago.

my new one looks like the barrel of a tommy gun.

Alrighty. Thats what one of my upstream ones look like from my 99.
My upstream sensor from my 04 L67 from the Impala looks as you explained the barrel of a tommy gun =P

Alright. Put the old 02 sensor in bank 1 and now it seems happy to have that one. However, now I am getting a code for bank 2 no activity. I don't have an 02 sensor in bank 2 because the 99's and 00's were fine without them if I'm not mistaken?
Car still stalls after idling for a while.

Also, it was weird this last time I ran the car it wouldn't let me build boost. I'm in park idling and I could rev it fine but as soon as I went to rev it quickly it would sound as if it was trying to stop the blower from building boost. What would cause it to not allow boost?

If you don't have an 02 for bank 2 you need to get the 02 sim or install an actual 02 sensor. I've had the sim in my 00 GT for years with no issues. You just can't leave it unplugged or it will throw a code. I left the old 02 installed and then just stuck the sim at the harness end of the wires. Problem solved.

I'll install the 02 in bank 2.
Any idea of the issues I stated above? Could they be due to it not being able to read both 02 sensors?

Alright, but it will 'build' boost according to the in car boost guage? That's what I'm referring to

The reason the engine was dying out was as soon as you reached the timer/temp for the rear o2 to take over fueling, ....with it having no activity the pcm was dumping fuel etc to try and keep the motor safely limping.

Glad you finally got the code to set.

Thank you for that piece of knowledge Bill! Thats the answer I was waiting for =)
It wouldn't set that code because the upstream 02 sensor wasn't working, which I went through 2 cycles of that to make sure it really was getting no activity from bank 1 sensor 1. Replaced it and I guess now that one is getting a reading.

Had to keep the car running for a while last night to get it to finally realize what it was missing

I've done swaps etc and had things seem like that, looked at so many things. It's the sudden die that points you to the hand off between open and closed loop. Sometimes in reading a post though..it's tough to pick up on it.

Its understandable. Not always the easiest thing trying to diagnose a problem you can't see or hear.
It seems to be running better now. Stalled after about 15 minutes. No more codes yet. But it holds itself longer and better now.

Been running another 15 minutes not too bad. Still sounds like its trying to die though. And it did.

Not sure but it starts sounding really loud at the intake and then it starts starving for air and dies
