• The site migration is complete! Hopefully everything transferred properly from the multiple decades old software we were using before. If you notice any issues please let me know, thanks! Also, I'm still working on things like chatbox, etc so hopefully those will be working in the next week or two.

Nic or XP?

Got my overkill cam coming, with my 1.7 roller rockers should run good. I will post dyno results. Going for 290whp. Ported gen three, meth with blower spacer, all the other bolt ons. Waiting on a few parts :-)

Get a gen 5. You can find them cheap nowadays. There is a guy that just found a brand spankin new one and paid $65 for it.

Ported is just as good unless its a terrible port job you would see the same gains tek310 would tell ya keep the ported gen 3 lol

Incorrect. Ported is not just as good. Any untouched gen 5 will still be more efficient than any port job on a gen 3. It's been proven.

What do mean not as good? Can you explain? Lots of people and guys I know could Care less for buying a gen v and porting their gen 3 im just curious to know they always shown and said a ported 3 is like a gen v

It may be ported to flow as good, but it will never be as efficient temperature wise than a gen 5. One of the main reasons guys convert to a gen 5 is for the temperature efficiency over a gen 3. Plus it wines a lot more ;)

Actually I have heard that a ported gen3 whines louder then a GenV

As having run both, with the same size pulleys on both, the Gen V whines louder than the ported Gen III.

Also, no need to port the outlet on a gen V, you can smooth/blend the inlet to reduce turbulence, and port the inlet larger if you are running a larger TB and MAF.

I've never run a ported gen 3, but my gen 5 whined a ton more than my stock gen 3 with the same size pulley. I remember reading on clubgp in the past that a gen 5 whines more than a fully ported gen 3 once you drop below a 3.0 pulley.

A gen 5 hands down has the edge over any ported gen 3. This has been discussed upon for years so I don't understand why, in 2014, anyone in this dying platform would still think a ported gen 3 would be the same as a gen 5. Although if you do not plan to drop to a 3.0 or below, then a ported gen 3 would work fine. The gen 5 does not really start to shine until you are below the 3.0 range.

Oh I wasn't debating the benefits of a GenV over a Gen3. I was simply commenting on sound.

You should hear what mine sounds like on a 3.0. Starts whining at 2k under normal throttle. I can't to drop to a 2.8 this spring ;).
