I am looking to get new front struts because my old ones are going bad, just wondering what brands are good. I don't need hardcore racing struts or something that is adjustable (too expensive) this is my daily driver. But don't get me wrong I do want to be able around corners a little fast ;)
 


KYB. Just intalled them on the front, stock springs and all, did install new upper mounts too, the mounts were shot! The KYB are great. If you don't get the anti pogo washers, you can make your own for nothing. Here is how: if you get new mount kits like I did, they were from Monro. Now, there is a cup at the top of the dust boot that holds in the bumper stop. That metal cup is replaced with the new one in the Monro mount kit. You can cut the lip off that cup, and install it just as your factory top mount washer, it will pull down on the top of the rubber bushing to make it tighter, if you don't do this, there will be at least 1/4" gap between the washer and the rubber, which makes the mount very loose on the top, which sucks for performance. I'm sure others will chime in too.
Other wise, the KYB's are great!

check ebay for the gr2s i got mine for just over 200 shipped. I did the gr2s with the gmpp upgraded sway bars/trailing arms. also i put on poly bushings. car feels much better in corners but the ride can be a bit harsh at times on really bad roads.
 


They were rougher than hell, enough to damn near knock you fillings out. It wasn't a nice ride at all, and I was on completwly stock suspension at the time too. Changing over to Monroes changed it completely, made a hell of a difference. It wasn't a sports car rough, it was just plain rough. My 140K 2005 Chevy 2500HD, 3/4 ton, Duramax Diesel work truck road better than my car! LOL
 
I would have to say if a rough ride is happening with the KYB's, that something else is wrong, possibly the strut mounts, because the KYB GR2's are not harsh. I chanded my strut mounts at the same time I did the struts, and now my CD player does not skip as much, like going over RR crossing lines in the road and hole and stuff, everthing is smoother, and that is going from the original struts and mounts.

OK......obviously we have different opinions on these. Who else has used these and which ones did you like? I personally would prefer to have them as close to stock as possible, with maybe slightly more stiffness......anyone have any suggestions or experience with either of these two brands?

I would say that these are two differing opinions.......opposite ends of the spectrum........
 
With my KYBs, I had brand new mounts, bearings, boots, everything. I don't half ass do the job. With all new parts it road like hell period. Never road good again until the Monroes were installed. Thats my experiance. I'm not the only one out there who thought/experianced this, i've heard of others on ClubGP say the same over the years, i'm not the only one. KYBs are suppose to be firmer than stock anyway, so I was told.

My car might of rode a **** hair better than my worn out 90k suspension, but not much. There was a huge improvement when I installed the Monroes. It felt like I actully changed the stuts that time! LOL!

Its gonna be hit or miss for you. You may love it, you may hate it. Its up to your taste. Alot of people here love em to death, I hate em to death and I wish I didn't waste the money on them. Thats my opinion. I've had quite a bit of seat time in my car (i've put over 100k on it myself), so I'd say I know my car very well...

where did you find these reflex struts i can only find sensatracs...
 
O'Reillys. I got the whole "quick-strut" assemblies which come preassembled with brand new mounts, bearings, spring, strut, etc. Just take out your old assy, pop in the new and get aligned, simple as that. Plus there lifetime warranty too...
