New MazdaSpeed3

Re: Gins 04 Comp G 5 speed?

Looks great, on the VSS does this use a reluctor on the diff like it seems GM did on almost everything? If so, any idea of the number of teeth?

Pretty sure yes, seeing the speed sensor goes in right at the diff, however i am unsure on the teeth. What im figuring is if my settings are off ill use my phone as a speedo to compare to the cluster and do the math to get it as close as possible.

Re: Gins 04 Comp G 5 speed?

bill posted my number and told everyone to call or text me and ask if it was done yet? lol so it blew up a little bit.

Re: Gins 04 Comp G 5 speed?

ha!

one time i bombed this guys phone with ~10,000 pictures of Elephants lol

he tried to troll the troll master

Re: Gins 04 Comp G 5 speed?

So ive been working a lot and havnt had time to get the last few things done to the car. Tomarrow it will be done.

All I really have left is wiring and throw the brakes back together.

I think I have the wiring figured out mostly but its different on the 04+ cars.

Pretty sure I just need to ground the F and J wires on the transmission plug to trick the car into park.
The vss is self explanatory, its just 2 wires, pos and neg.

Cant find any info on the backup switch though.

I think that's it, if anyone knows otherwise lmk

Re: Gins 04 Comp G 5 speed?

Think your right scotty, ill look into it when I get home.

The thing about grounding the f and j connector, it will trick the car to thinking its in park so I can start the car however I would like the factory feel of having the switch under the clutch pedal so im trying to figure out how to go about that.

Re: Gins 04 Comp G 5 speed?

Anyone who does a 5speed swap is like legend to me. Might as well hook it up to the rear wheels while your at it.

Re: Gins 04 Comp G 5 speed?

theres got to be a switch for the clutch pedal that allows you to do that with the park switch. must be something like a brake light switch on the brake pedal.

Re: Gins 04 Comp G 5 speed?

Oh no scotty, I have actual switch, its just figuring out wtf to connect it.

Re: Gins 04 Comp G 5 speed?

yeah the automatic trans range switch is what feeds a lot of the stuff for reverse light function etc you will likely have to make workarounds for that for the starting circuit a simple brake light hydraulic switch is all you need to enable the ground side of a relay for the starter reverse lights might be a bit trickier since I believe they are controlled by the BCM so you will likely have to tap in on the secondary side and control them with an add on relay harness to the OEM reverse switch or a small micro switch on the shift linkage

Re: Gins 04 Comp G 5 speed?

Oh so your saying I should put my switch for the clutch pedal inline for the signal wire on the starter? Idk why I didn't think about that. As far as the reverse I think I figured it out its just getting an accurate wiring diagram for the 4 range select wires so I know what each one does.

Re: Gins 04 Comp G 5 speed?

yeah, its one of them safety features so it cant be started unless the clutch is in. this way you cant fire it up by accident and then it just drives off cause it was left in gear.

Re: Gins 04 Comp G 5 speed?

sorta. your going to have to make your own harness in tandem

power from ign swtich to a new relay that would ground the starter relay wire that comes out of the bcm.

revers might be difficult. but should be similarly executed with an added in relay system to interface to the oem crap.

Re: Gins 04 Comp G 5 speed?

Well car is done....... kind of.

I have drilled 3 ****ing holes in my firewall to try and get these cables to reach and I keep winding up short by an inch. The only way I see these cables working atm is to repull the engine and drill in a place I know will work but just cant get to. Although I suppose at the same time I can patch the holes I made lol. Very upset this is holding me back. Anyone ever extend shift cables?
