Well good news, just got home from work and took a look at where they have to be routed. I can get at it with the holesaw if i remove the rack. So tomarrow morning thats what im doing. Another way i can gain an inch is by shortening by shifter so i can move the assembly forward more because as of now the reason why i had to set it back farther because on the 04+ interior the shifter nob hits the temp controls.

I do plan on repulling the engine and trans later this summer, i just wanted to get the swap done as of now and make sure everything worked properly before i went all out.

Todo list by end of summer.

Repaint engine/trans
remove dip in header downpipe, weld in new flex and do a catback
fiberglass holes in firewall lol
rewire and clean up engine bay

What if you went at it with a dremel instead of a hole saw? Might be able to get into a tighter space that way...

Does the shift handle screw onto a tab on the shifter? Or is it all one piece? Dogleg or hockey stick shaped shifter handle is what I'm thinking, so you can mount it another inch forward. Lots of old stuff is that way because the shifter needs to be right under the dash. Like old trucks. Looks like you have a straight handle now. Weld a chrome Hurst Comp+ stick on there with a Hurst boot and T-handle lol!

You know thats a really good idea, ima just go buy one tomarrow because i wanted one anyway to port my own heads.

Dremels are awesome in so many ways, but I wouldn't want to port heads with them. Actually mine worked great to clean up and polish the combustion chamber, but you'll thank yourself if you get a die grinder and some 4" carbide bits. I used an electric die grinder I got from Harbor Freight. Its a bit cumbersome but it along with the sand rolls that HF carries made short work of the runners. The dremel also worked real well at cleaning up the bowls right behind the seats. Anyways, just my opinions. Regardless, if you don't already have a dremel you will find 1000 uses for it.

Dremel worked great, I also moved the shifter forward like I mentioned to gain some slack. I have a little extra slack now all bolted up. Master and slave are bled. Everything is done except figuring out where I want to mount the filter and bleeding the coolant and filling with oil. Ill start it up tonight after work.

SHE RUNS!!!!!

Couple little things to take care of. I almost burnt threw my wire harness lol, didnt realise it was so close to header but just burnt the plastic wrap off.
The clutch is LOUD AS ****. Chatter like a mother. Ima see how this clutch goes, i might just order a stage 3 if its that bad, oh well.
Seal on the pass side axle is leaking, ill order one tomarrow and replace it this week.
Pretty pumped it runs though, getting late ima go spend some time with the gf and button things up tomarrow and maby bring it for a drive.

Hopefully the clutch just has something on it that will burn off. Sounds like a win from here, good luck with the details and shakedown.

Car drives but grinds every gear, I know for a fact it's bled completely. Wondering if it's Cus that port on top need vacuum. But other than that and the chatter successful swap

these trannys got syncros in them? if they chip with every shift id think thats the issue.

if it grinds going into gear from a dead stop its the clutch not opening. needs more bleeding or some things not right.

Goes into 4th and 5th fine while driving but not 2nd and 3rd. Goes into every gear fine while stopped. Also i have my rev limiter set to 7k in p/n but for some reason i cant go over 3500-4k.

Im thinking this trans is toast :(

see if it has syncros maybe fix able.

the rpm deal has to be tune related. if its like bouncing off the limiter.

Try an old fashioned double clutch. But sounds like it was abused. 2nd and 3rd syncros always take a pounding from poor drivers.

Yea the rpm deal i know is tune related obv. As far as im concerned there is nothing you can do for these syncros, from what ive heard you swap the trans.

Yea Scotty i have read that information and thought about both options. I have 2 transmissions that are going to be coming to me and im also going to order a new master and slave just incase.
