im trying to get away with out pulling the heads on my gtp. now if i go with the modded 1.9's are 90lbs springs neccesary or are the stock ones fine? im assuming i have to upgrade the springs along with it. new hydraulic lifters and 7.00 push rods.

#90 springs are reccommended.....Save yourself a lot of money and run the original lifters and pushrods. No need to upgrade those.

Like GMR said...Yes upgrade your springs, retainers, locks and seals..but keep the stock lifters and pushrods

and you also don't have to pull your heads for a rocker/spring install unless you don't have a decent compressor

no compressor. already ordered the lifters and push rods to so money already spent. so if i dont have a way compress the spring i will have to pull the heads?

Pulling heads is a bad idea.....Use spring compressor along with air compressor or use spring compressor and turn motor manually with a breaker bar to make the cylinder you're working on be at TDC.

You'll have 3x the cost, head aches, and labor involved in pulling cylinder heads.

Return the lifters and pushrods if you can....it's literally a waste of money.

I didn't even think about making each cylinder tdc when I replace the springs. good idea. so no push rods or lifters? when is it a good idea to replace the lifters and rods then?

When you need too lol. Unless your lifters exploded or are ticking loudly (most 3800s have some lifter tick)

another trick to change valve springs is to feed rope into the spark plug hole when the piston is near the top to hold the valve closed.

I honestly don't know what its called but at the car meet few weeks ago it also had some sort of washer things to go over the spring. GMR was using this it screwed down with a rocker bolt you then pulled/pushed on it to compress the spring pull out the keepers then slowly let back up.
