I've got the Konis and had them revalved for 500#. To me they rides pretty nice for a stiff spring. Koni are the only ones who rebuilds them, $180 a piece.

Otherwise Bilsteins are the next best shock.

Call them up send in your shocks. The ilsteins though deserve a look though...there lighter than my koni shocks. And they hold up to a stiffer spring in stock form I'm still riding on them.

They rebuilt mine, I only had the fronts done though. They were revolved as well. The rears I haven't done but they seem to be handling the 400# springs out back fine.

The Bilsteins would be nice I'm sure. But that'd also mean hacking up a whole nother set of struts. After this set is cut up I think I'd be better off calling up Koni and giving them my spring rates and letting them revalve them and put the cartridges in my current strut bodies. Less work. They'd be properly valves which would mean it'll ride better, handle better, last longer etc etc

Can't say the koni or bilstein is better. Depends what you want. Off the shelf koni is garbage though. This comparison is assuming you have them valved correctly.

The Bilstein responds to smaller inputs, so it'll likely maintain more accurate control of the wheel. The trade off is it will ride more harshly, even when valved correctly.

The Konis can only be revalved by Koni.

There are many shops that revalve Bilsteins.

I just have Konis because I picked them up with Eibachs a few years ago for $200. After getting revalved I've enjoyed them. I can't say anything to compare them to Bilsteins though, I just know they're good shocks.

Also to add the Bilsteins are taller then our shocks correct? If you're wanting to go anywhere decently low they are going to be to tall. I'm wishing my Konis were shorter and they are shorter than stock.

If you're making coilovers, "height" isn't an issue.

Length however might be.

It depends how low you want to go, but you can still shorten the rod of a bilstein. In fact they sell shocks for certain vehicles with shortened rods specifically for use with lowering springs.

Ordered lower mounts so I can replace them at the same time I do the Vinnie spacers...that's all...whoop

I'm finding that my spring isolators are tearing again i would highly recommend sanding the inside of the spring coil so its doesn't rip like mine

My spring isolators have the top part cut off. Only the bottom where the spring actually sits is still there. So it shouldn't be much of an issue

Who all has rails? My passenger side one seems kind of loose. It's held on there but it's just not as tight as the driver side. My local buddy's car is the same way. Anyone else's like that? I picked up some loctite double sided mounting tape. They claim it's very strong and that a 5 foot roll could hold 100lbs worth.

We'll see I guess.

rails as in roof rails?

if you want them forever and want them to look clean...drill into them a little, drill holes in the roof (yes, this means you have to take the liner out of the car), then put screws into them from inside the car. no one can ever take them and they will never move ever again. ever.

i used 3m tape the whole length. and i can shake the whole car by grabbing them

tape and adhesive from the outside of the car will never be perfect and they'll be able to be taken off from the outside of the car with a little effort. just sayin'.

See that's what I have know is 3m tape. Some red stuff. But it just doesn't seem to work that good. I dunno. Maybe i'm not a good taper person.
