Anyone remotely interested in the heads and cam? Nick's stuff off the blue car. Ported heads, TEP cam, Lucas 42.5 Flowmatched injectors, pushrods, double roller from Brian. I think that's about it. If you're interested PM me. I'm not making a for sale thread cause I'm not set on selling them. I could just put the money to a different use and if someone was interested we can talk

And on the opposite note, how well do you guys think that TEP cam would work on a turbo setup? It seems to be setup similar to a turbo cam in that it has more lift on the intake and less on the exhaust. LSA is in the middle of the spread of the Stattama turbo cams. Main difference is my cam has a lot more duration at .284 opposed to the .210-.230 range that the Stattama's have.

I've got a set of GTX wheels going on with some spacers. Getting powdercoated white first. But that will probably wait for next spring.

Okay. I got my rear sleeves today. But the ID is too small for my struts. They're raised up on the inside and it won't fit over that. The first part fits fine. But where it raises up has no chance in hell of sliding on.

I've tried sanding but I didn't really get anywhere. Any of you guys have ideas on how to get this thing to fit?

Use a engine cylinder hone grind on the strut a little grease it up press it on. Just make sure you don't split the sleeve and make sure the but still spins

I dun have an engine hone layin around lol. Good idea though.

I think, tomorrow I'm going to pull a front off, and see if the sleeve will fit on the back and be long enough. If it is, then it'll stay and i'll put the other sleeve up front if it fits.

I had those the first time I tried mine. I just ordered the next size up and used shims to fill the gap.

You could try taking then to a machine shop to throw it on a lathe.

Possibly. I still need to swap them around and see if they work. It was rainy today so I didn't bother.

And I also ordered covers today. I have no clue why I waited almost an entire week to order them. But I lucked out and haven't had to drive in any rain yet.

mine aren't covered either.

if i were you i'd take the strut and the sleeve to a machinist and tell them you want the ID opened up so it will fit over the strut. their micrometers and machines will be more than enough to make it happen. and it shouldn't cost you all that much considering it'll be an easy task for them. just iterate that you want it to be a press fit, still (not that they slip on real easy).

Only reason I want the cover is for the front bearings so they don't rust out. As far as the sleeves I think I'll switch them around today and see what's up.

Thats assuming I don't go riding instead

They definatley will not rust, as for dirt yea but every oil change or so just spraybsomr brake cleaner on them and re lube them with the grease I mention or white lithium

I already need to spray them down with brake cleaner and relube them. There's dirt/sand all over them.

Those of you making your own; Do not get a 2.1" X 6.5" sleeve from A-1 Racing. It's too small for a GR2/Excel-G strut.
Unless you have a hone, lathe, or something that can make the sleeve ID slightly larger, don't buy them. Luckily my buddy has a hone so we're going to give that a try so we can get the rear dropped.

Now...a 5" sleeve might be long enough and the 2.17" X 5" sleeve from A-1 Racing MIGHT work. But I wasn't able to confirm that tonight because I couldn't put the 6.5" sleeve up front to test the 5" sleeve out back.

BUT, when we get the rear sleeve honed out I will make sure to try the 5" sleeves in the back just to clear up some questions for those of you making your own. If they ARE long enough it will make it much easier cause then you can buy a set of 4, 2.17" X 5" for all 4 corners.

I believe the struts are 2.15x" so the 2.17" work great if you get some .01" metal to wrap around the strut so the sleeves are almost a press fit and fit nice and snug.

My struts were 2.08 od if you check my bilstein thread I used some exhaust tubing adapter to make everything snug
